One thing to consider is the view you will see coming down. That was a highlight for me as I jumped (tandem) along the Monterey coast of CA. There was the patchwork quilt of the agriculture of the area, nearby mountains --along with the Pacific Ocean.
As a Monterey County resident, I have to agree with this. Skydive Hollister is a fairly big operation with a good reputation. They frequently have discounts on Groupon, too. Suggest you look for a trade into one of the numerous timeshares on the Monterey peninsula. Marina would be closest, but anything in the general area of Monterey would work.
(Googling...) I now see there's also an outfit called Skydive Monterey Bay in Marina. I assume they operate out of the old Fritzsche field, now called Marina Municipal Airport. I know nothing about this outfit, but it's even closer to the coast, and would likely give spectacular views.

what does 'fun jumper ' mean? Thanks for the tip. I checked Skydive Hollister's website and they have cheap jump tickets if you buy in bulk. It looks to be about a 30-40min drive from the Monterey peninsula. Skydive Monterey Bay looks great but it's not clear if they allow fun jumpers from their website.

Wow, time flies. Seems like just a few years ago that Ford Ord closed. I see now that it's 1994. Thanks for making me feel oldMonterey is the one I did -- nearly 20 years ago.
Someone with a license to skydive with their own parachute, not attached to a tandem instructor. It takes about 25-30 jumps to get your A license from USPA and you can work your way up from there.what does 'fun jumper ' mean?
