Best Strategy for Requesting 2BR in Palm Desert?

Hi Fellow Tuggers!
I bought my studio timeshare when I was single and am now married with 4 kids. I have had good luck exchanging into 2 bedrooms by looking for resorts that only have 2 bedrooms. However, for spring break 2016 my husband wants to go to a resort in Palm Desert. What is the best strategy for this? We are II members. I could check every day to see if something comes up (I've had luck with this before) or I could request a 2 bedroom only place somewhere in Palm Springs and try to re-trade using e-Plus (which I have never tried). Anyone out there have any other ideas, suggestions or advice? Unfortunately we are tied to traveling based on school calendars so it is always a challenge for us. I would appreciate any and all advice. Thanks!

You may not be able to enter a request for a 2 bedroom with a studio unless you request timeshares that only have 2 bedrooms. Oasis may only have 2 bedrooms (I only see 2 bedrooms come up for that resort). Indian Palms all sleep 6 people, but I do not know if it trades in II.

If I were in your shoes, I'd look at the resort directory and put in a request for any places that only have 2 bedrooms. I'd buy Etrade and I'd check online inventory every day. It sounds like you are trying to get a one week window. You won't want to leave anything to chance or count on the system to automatically match for you.

I think Presley's strategy is the best. If you're willing to go to one of the resorts in Indio, you can probably get something. Getting into one of the more top drawer, Marriott or Westin resorts in Palm Springs will be strictly by using the E-plus type thing at the last minute.

If you're thinking of Spring Break 2016, you need to get your search in right away. There's always a chance that you might his a bulk bank for one of the upper type resorts, although I had a search in with a "no-name, no priority" two bedroom for close to a year for a two bedroom and it never did hit - although I'd always had success in the past.

Hope it works out for you.

I second this but would add that there is unlikely to be any "leftover" 2BR inventory for the resorts mentioned as Spring Break in the desert is VERY HIGH demand. Not sure what studio you have, but just don't want you to get your (and kids) hopes up for this tough trade.

You may be able to trade into a 1 bd then buy a studio getaway for ~$500

Not a solution for this particular question, but have you thought about recycling your timeshare in favor of a 2BR?

Basically it would be checking, checking and more checking near to check in date to try to get something last minute.
