My wife and I have 1,875 holding account points that must be used within 120 days of check-in that expire on October 31 of 2020. What is the best case scenario for options to try to get money out of these points?

They can’t be banked.
I don’t believe they can be rented. Am I wrong?
We could try to book a trip using the points and then find somebody willing to pay us to use that reservation, correct?
I don’t know if they are able to be traded for Bonvoy reward points. That would be an acceptable option at this point.

I need all the help we can get so we don’t lose these points.

Help appreciated.

Book something. Cancel under 60 days and viola they are 2021 holding points (or at least that is what people are reporting.

If you are seeking to cancel your reservation and are due to arrive 1 to 60 days from the day you cancel, your Vacation Club Points will be returned to a Holding Account; however, the Points Premium (if any) will be forfeited.

  • For Vacation Club Points expiring anytime in 2020 or 2021 and placed into a Holding Account, the expiration deadline will be extended through December 31, 2021, and can be used for a villa reservation or select Explorer offerings within 120 days of arrival instead of the previous 60 days of arrival. The December 31, 2021 extension will be made to your account within two weeks.

I thought any 120 days of checkin points were now good through 12/2021?

I agree, check your account. If they were canceled under the Covid policy they would have gone back and updated your account extending them to the end of 2021. If that should have happened but didn't, call, email or chat to check. If they were under the old policy they would have to be used for stays within 60 days of arrival. If that's the case you should likely book something then cancel and see if they can then be extended to 2021.
