I know Wyndham doesn't have any "adults-only" resorts, but what locations are best for couples that want to get away from the kids? :)

La Belle Maison comes to mind, but that has more of a hotel feel & not a resort.

Waikiki Beach Walk is one that comes to mind. If you don't want to travel that far then Westwinds in Myrtle Beach. Another is Wyndham Durango. The last two are smaller resorts. I don't recall seeing kids at either of these resorts when we've been there.

Club Wyndham Bay Voyage in Rhode Island is all 1 bedroom with partial kitchen, which will likely eliminate some families. I have not stayed there (I have too many kids for comfort), but we have been in that area and it is charming and not kid centric. It is in a residential area near the water and the golf course. I seem to remember some charming restaurants near there. I remember thinking if I could get away without the kids, I wanted to give it a try. It's a short drive to a lighthouse. I am sure there will be kids, but I don't think it would be OVERRUN with kids.

Royal Garden in Waikiki was very adult oriented. Location and mostly studio units makes this very much a couples resort. Not by the beach, so 6 block walk to the centre of things, but it is in a much quieter part of Waikiki.

Agree, La Belle Maison is generally very adult. Similar situation at Canterbury in San Francisco.

When we last visited Flagstaff on Canada's Victoria Day weekend (a week earlier than Memorial Day) it was very quiet and very adult, cheap off season points then too. Have not stayed there but Sedona is likely very adult oriented, and more a resort.

When we visited Indio (very much a resort complete with 36 holes of golf) last November which was off season, there were young kids still present at the main pool and lazy river. However, at the second pool there was all of 6 adults with the pool to ourselves one afternoon.

Last February at San Antonio Riverside, and Austin we did not encounter any children. Probably different in summer.

Grand Desert in Vegas is generally very adult, depending on the season (ie when the pool is fully open), but even then one pool is adult only.

How did you like Indio? I’ve been wanting to go there but the reviews on TUG aren’t great. Are the pools nice? My husband likes to golf and I like to swim so it sounds promising.....Anything negative about it? I don’t care if the units aren’t state of the art as long as they are clean and comfortable!

Governor's Green in Williamsburg does have an adult only pool. However, I wouldn't consider the resort to be geared towards adults. There is another pool beside the check in/activities building for everyone. There is a mini golf course, playground, and volleyball net near the adult pool as well.

Deb, The rooms are very clean and comfortable. I would compare it to Las Vegas Grand Desert or Bonnet Creek in nature. Used to have issues with Wifi a few years back, but last November it was fine. The pools are as good as any we have had at Wyndham. You are in the middle/surrounded by the golf course. The 3 Wyndham buildings (the bulk are Worldmark) are at the back. The patio/windows overlook the pools and courtyard which are well done. The back door entrance overlooks a fairway and the desert mountains (no housing or city). That points to the downside of the resort, it is at the fringes of the Coachella valley. Yes you need a car. Walmart and all the regular stores are within a 5 minute drive. 5 minute drive to Interstate 10. Local suburbia restaurants same distance. For a greater variety of restaurants you are 10-15 minutes from Palm Desert or Indian Wells. Palm Springs airport and the town is about a 30 minute drive.

If you like cooking in there is virtual armada of barbecues (I wonder if that is a Worldmark thing) that they clean daily. If you like name entertainment Fantasy Springs casino resort is just down the road and brings in acts weekly. 10 minutes further down I10 is another casino resort, even more entertainment.

Thanks for the information! It sounds like a resort that we would enjoy. We will definitely give it a try when we’re able to travel again.

Margaritaville resorts.

We did have an eye on Rio Mar down in Puerto Rico...although I've seen some reviews that suggest it's good for families.

There are plenty of kids there but is still a nice resort for couples. I seen a lot less kids at the Margarittaville resort in St. Thomas that I think is better suited for couples. You need a vehicle for either imo especially for Puerto Rico as there is nothing within walking distance. You can walk to a small grocery in St. Thomas but the area is a little sketchy

We actually did both those spots at the same time and will again winter 2022. Its literally a 20 min flight. I would give them both a try at the same time.

Without a doubt St. Thomas but the car rental place messed up our reservation so we did not have a vehicle for Puerto Rico. If you just want to enjoy the resort, Puerto Rico is a better resort imo. Puerto Rico is also much bigger and commercialized. From St Thomas you can take a ferry over to St. Johns which has a lot hiking or walking trails. We did a private catamaran with another couple we had just met from St John and went to 2 other islands and seen what seemed like 10. One of the best experiences of my life.

I agree with the St Thomas / St John suggestion for couples.

I know this is a Wyndham thread, but I would also suggest Westin Lagunamar for a couples vacation at some point. Two large (one huge) pool areas, including swim up bars in each, offering good happy hours. The seating is spread out around the pools and the beach in such a way that it is not hard to find a quiet place. Then there are many options for dining across the street or a very short bus ride a mile or two north or south of the resort property.

Obviously for any trips outside the U.S. the COVID-19 situation will have a significant impact on where we can go and when it might be reasonably safe to do so.

I would second the MVC resorts in the Caribbean. We spent our 25th anniversary in St. Thomas around this time last year - had an awesome time between St. Thomas and St. John. Lots of hiking on St John as CC mentioned, and some of the best beaches in the world on either island really. It's also popular to take a puddle jumper between the islands - we didn't know this until we were there - but the sales staff tried to help us to re-arrange to puddle jump over to Rio Mar for a few days but we just couldn't make the costs work last minute. We are heading to Rio Mar in Feb 2021 for my wife's birthday for a week - can't wait! :) While I haven't been there yet - the Limetree resort on St. Thomas is now open again after a complete rebuild and that resort strikes me as even more quaint and low key than MVC St. Thomas - definitely caters to couples as the largest rooms are one bedrooms and most of the rooms are studios. We have that on our bucket list as well! :)

Lol, I'm glad you mentioned limetree I had forgot were going there this February after we get off a cruise. I wanted to see both sides of the island so we will know in the future what's best for us. We did drive by there this past winter and it looked just about complete. It is very close to downtown where all the ships port and there is a Marina on the other side of downtown from Limetree that I'm sure you can find a boat to take you anywhere but won't be as cheap, short, and easy as the ferry to St Johns from Red Hook which is about a 5 min drive from MVC
