Best resort for II trade International?

So hubby and I would like to occasionally go to a timeshare in San Antonio, Orlando, etc for the next few years and then more Asia, Europe. Is there any purchase that makes this reasonable ? Obviously, everyone here has taught me I have to buy on the resale market. It sounds like Marriott has priority in II?

Thanks

Marriott's preference in II is only for other Marriott units (plus a secondary preference for Vistana units, after the Vistana-to-Vistana preference expires).

You don't need to buy in Orlando to stay in Orlando; cheap rentals and II Getaways abound.

There is good availability at the Hyatt in San Antonio, even via II getaways, for less than $1000 usually 2-5 month ahead and for exchange 4-5months ahead.
Asia and Europe have MVC resorts as well so the usual suspects of MVC lock-off resale weeks will get you to the places you want, plus II getaways for Orlando, elsewhere in Europe and some of Asia.

Asia has very few timeshares. And at the moment, it makes more sense to rent someplace rather than pay a maintenance fee and exchange in. You'll pay more and get less with timeshares. (There's a timeshare in Nepal which costs six times more to trade into than it does to rent.) Japan is the best travel value on Earth right now -- and the handful of timeshares suffer from the same problem. Just go rent a place.

Europe has a smattering of timeshares, and I've stayed in quite a few of them. They typically aren't in the powerhouse cultural cities -- because Europeans are trying to escape that and stay somewhere out in the country for their vacation. I like these places, so I see real value exchanging to Europe. Most people aren't happy unless they're in the center of London, Paris and Rome. There is a European timeshare company called Hapimag which specializes in European cities. But you'd have to buy into the Hapimag system. And it would only be for Europe. Hapimag also has real value and VERY happy owners. But it's rather niche in the US.
