What is the best rewards credit card?

We are Starwood owners and use the SPG card for points we use for hotel stays.
We generally travel to Hawaii once/yr and am wondering if the Alaska Airlines VISA with companion pass would be a rewards system for us.

Thanks,
Chris

Might want to ask on FlyerTalk.

I have two excellent cashback cards - CitiBank Dividend and Blue Cash Preferred - that give me a nice little bonus that I can use anyway I want. (Let me know if you want a friend referral for the Amex, PM me).

I also have a CapitalOne Venture Card that my Wallaby App is telling me to use everywhere.

I don't think there's going to one perfect answer to your question. it kind of depends on a number of factors beyond just what you've already posted. For example, do you have excellent credit or good credit or poor credit? Do you want to "churn" cards or just get the best overall deal? Can you manage multiple cards or just one or two? Do you have an airline preference? Etc.

I'm thinking entertainment may include RCI!
My payments to RCI code as "travel" FWIW.

My gym payments, on the other hand, code as entertainment, which kind of bothers me. i think it should code as healthcare or something. Not that it matters for rewards, but I just get annoyed seeing the bills and seeing how taking care of my health by exercising is being called "entertainment." It gets under my skin because of how most preventative medicine is not recognized as "healthcare."

AK Air cc

We have 2 AK Air cards and use the companion certificate for HI. We go during the grandkids' spring break so the flights are expensive. The certificate saves us about a quarter of the cost compared to other airlines, since the AK direct flights cost more. We have also used the cards to fly Air France to Paris twice w frequent flyer miles. We find AK Air to be very flexible and recommend the card to friends.

The current issue of Money Magazine just arrived in my mailbox and has a 3 or 4 page article on this subject. I didn't pay much attention to it as I'm happy with the one I use. Just flipping through the pages it looked pretty comprehensive.

Actually I mis-spoke. The 3% rebate is for travel not entertainment. That's another plus to be used with RCI.

I take them all. If there is a bonus and
the annual fee is waived, I not only jump
on it, I search it out.
thepointsguy.com puts out good info
daily on cards available.

Just got 75,000 miles (enough for 1 business class award tix to Hawaii) for the new AA Citibank Executive Elite card. Expensive ($450), but very good perks, including free access to Admirals Clubs.

The Points Guy is a good reference for card selection and use of points.

One of the top recommendations is the Starwood card.
