Near the sea.
I used to work in the mental health field. We have to get continuing ed credits yearly. One of the seminars I went to talked about the power of music to raise or lower fear. They played parts of Psycho and others on this list without the background music and the impact was flat. Nothing. No emotion from the film without its score.
Lawrence of Arabia #8 on this list is my all time favorite movie score.

I rank Morricone's My Name is Nobody's up there with the best.
If you limit to single composer film scores, I think that among Morricone, John Williams, and Franz Zimmer, they would occupy about 15 of the top 20 places.

My favorite Morricone film score is a Few Dollars More. The recurring melody of the pocket watch and it's integration into the action is exquisite.

It leads to the question, what makes a great score? Example,The Pink Panthers scores. Can you imagine the films without the Mancini scores?
