We're giving our son our timeshare points through Diamond Resorts/II (formerly Club Sunterra) to plan his honeymoon in August 2009. We're real newbies at using our membership and have not visited any Carribbean properties through it. They'd like someplace fairly secluded (shopping and town nighlife not needed) where they can relax, snorkel, maybe hike. Maybe with private villas. He's interested in St. James Club in Antigua but it has very mixed reviews. Any recommendations or advice in general would be much appreciated!

We stayed at Windjammer Landing on St. Lucia a couple of years ago. The island is beautiful and the resort is good. They were villas and many of them had their own personal plunge pool. We saw many honeymooners there. I got the resort as an RCI trade. I don't know if it trades with II. We loved Windjammer Landing. The view from the villa was awesome. However, it is not a new resort and does not have glitz and glitter. If you want The Ritz, this is not it.

St James Club is a fantastic resort and in August you may be able to get something providing the trade power of your deposit is very good. Most times of the year SJC is very difficult to trade into but occasionally in August and September there are developer deposits.

The two bedroom villas rent for 6-7 thousand per week from the resort. It is secluded on a peninsula and the villas are fantastic.

Windjammer doesnt trade with II. Westin St John would also be a great choice but it is extemely hard to trade into.
