Trying to set up a tentative itinerary for Orlando next month and looking for opinions as to the best (least crowded) days to visit Seaworld.

I checked a few of the Disney sites and the opinions were mixed. Some swore that Saturday and Sunday were less crowded because people are just arriving and checking in. Others said weekdays.

I was thinking of maybe Monday and Wednesday.

Thoughts, opinions!!

IMO weekdays are best. Disney even offers a discounted yearly pass for Florida residents that is only for weekdays. That's the one I'm getting this year cause the weekend crowds make the parks unbearable at times.

OMG, I think I'm getting old. Never thought I'd say that. :hysterical:

Hubby and I joke about the old thing all the time. Just do not find it relaxing in the least. Hate being shuffled from one line to another, one gate to another, etc. I find Magic Kingdom the worst and would live my life totally fulfilled if I never again had to return there. Wait for the tram, wait at ticket booth, wait for monorail, wait at line for security. And you haven't even entered the actual park yet and all that waiting.

Hence Seaworld.

Good to know, its not just me..I enjoy my time at Bonnet Creek, as long as I dont have to leave the resort grounds

If you don't want to visit the parks, is a visit to Orlando worthwhile?
We will be in Florida in September. I am sure we could get an XYZ to a nice resort in Orlando before or after our Sanibel week. We have not been to Orlando in over a dozen years. We took our kids to the parks..not that interested in doing that again.
Anyone have any non- amusement park activities they really recommend?

This is about the California parks, but I would think it would apply to Florida as well. We were at Magic Kingdom/Cal Adventure over last month's holiday week. Comparing the crowd on the Monday holiday with subsequent days, The crowd was 10% or less during the week/school days than on the holiday. No lines, no need for Fast Pass, lots of good people-watching seats at the food venues. I couldn't care less if I never went to the park on a holiday weekend.

We really just enjoy spending time at the resort. Vacation to me is family time. With 3 little ones (1, 3 &5) its a huge break for me for dad to be able to take one (or two) of them to the pool, mini-golf, playground while I hang with the other(s) (especially during nap time). We stay at Bonnet Creek and they just have so much for everyone there. Especially the kids. Spraygrounds, lazy rivers, watersides. The movies at night, kids love when Gatorland comes. Hula Hoop contests, karaoke and of course the daily ice-cream social.

Since we have little ones a trip to the beach can be tough and not all that relaxing. Since we live 10 minutes from the beach and don't use the one we have right here going to a beach "resort" lacks some of the amenities of a place like a Bonnet Creek. When we were down there in October the baby fell asleep while we were on the lazy river so I floated in there for almost an hour. It was one of the most relaxing hours I have had in a long time.

The plus side of Orlando is that they have a ton of restaurants and amenities in the area. We do hit downtown disney and universal citiwalk for dinner or after dinner for an ice cream and to walk around. When we were at CItiwalk last they had some concert there. Kids love the Lego Store at DD plus they have the carousel and train.

Night comes and once the LO's are tucked in its off to the balcony with a bottle of wine. If you get the right building a view of the Epcot fireworks or on the other side of the lake can listen to music from the bar below.

In our last 6 trips to Orlando we have only done parks 3 of the 6 times. Twice Disney Parks and once Seaworld.

A few weeks ago, I walked into the AAA office and told the ticket agent that we had decided to avoid dorky rides at the parks, and do dorky dinner shows instead.

So, we ended up spending evenings where they feed you while providing cheesy entertainment. IMHO, the food was best at Treasure Tavern (full bar), with Medieval Times (you eat with fingers) a close second. Capone's and Sleuth's are next on our list.

For Disney World, I highly suggest easyWDW. Josh has some incredibly accurate insights as to which parks are going to be busiest and slowest each day. He has a great WDW forum, a fun blog, and invaluable calendars and commentary on which parks to visit.

There are other sites/services that let you know which parks to visit, but easyWDW is the most accurate (IMHO) and the cheapest (free). Unfortunately, I don't know of anything similar for non-Disney parks.

For other parks, I would have to agree with weekdays in general. Weekends get considerably more traffic from locals, plus families taking "9 day" vacations (a work week plus the weekend before and after).

Yes, week days are best. One time I visited Magic Mountain and was able to ride Colossus over 20 times on my one day pass - almost zero lines.

I never got sick that day either :D
