Best credit card to buy American airline miles?

We are short miles for business class tickets for an upcoming European vacation and will need to buy some additional miles. The American website states this purchase will earn 2 miles per $ spent using an American credit card, but I am wondering if it would be better to use the Reserve card, since we would get 3 points per $, then the points are valued at 1 1/2 times when booking travel on the Chase U R site? Anyway, know the actual value of points for a comparison?
