Any suggestions on the best buildings and units for getting some good ocean views from an "ocean side" view class at the Grand Ocean? Also, any strategies for securing the fifth floor/ and units, etc? Early arrival, late arrival, certain ways of requesting? Thanks for your advice!

I'd request Dolphin building as high a floor as possible. MGO assigns points like an exchange so depending on the time of year, you might be lucky to get a higher floor. Dolphin is one of 2 buildings with OF & OS both so Dolphin & Starfish will get you the closest to the ocean. Since dolphin is quieter and seems less requested, that should give you a slightly better chance of a good view/higher floor.

We were very lucky one year and we stay in the Sea Horse Building; high floor, Villa #8426.
A direct view of the ocean.

Is it safe to assume you are a new owner? Assuming so, here is the resort map. https://owners.marriottvacationclub...VkZWI0MWRiZTc0YTVlYjllZGM2MDcyNTFhYTdlYWVkNjA

I would first ask you about your party makeup. Just adults, kids, ages? Do you prefer to stay near the hustle and bustle of the resort (family pool, new mini lazy river, bar, etc), or do you prefer a quieter location. Left (North) side of the resort looking at the map is quieter, with more of a nature vibe...Right (South) side has more of a busier family vibe around the Dolphin pool, and has the bar near the ocean.

As far as what constitutes Ocean Front vs Ocean Side....if you draw a horizontal line just below Sea Horse and Sand Castle buildings, the half closest to the Ocean would be Ocean Front (All of Sea Horse, All of Sand Castle, and 1/2 of Dolphin and 1/2 of Starfish. Everything else would be Ocean Side.
