I could have sworn they said we would get two room upgrades a year, two discounted stays each year and no requirement to attend a sales presentation to go to ultimate access events. I can find nothing that shows benefits of loyalty levels anywhere other than a former diamond website showing you get one extra guest certificate which I do not need. I guess we got confused by the razzle dazzle. Rescind the $20k? Also whatever happened to elite? Is that still a thing?

Did you just purchase? If so, certainly rescind/cancel. Then you can do more research to get your questions answered. If you still want to buy, they will be more than happy to take your money again.

Ultimate access is available to everyone but comes with a sale meeting requirement. Elite Plus and Elite Premier plus their Max equivalent get unlimited upgrades based on availability, but don't know anything about discounted stays unless you mean the sales that they run occasionally or the cash deals on RCI. Legacy Elite is still a thing.

Here are the benefits for Preferred +...not worth 20k for me though. The only difference that I see between Preferred + and Preferred is:

• $100 more OS credit
• Gold HH status versus Silver
• 3 free guest certs instead of 2
• 12 month booking window in RCI Select instead of a 6 month window

Many of the other benefits shown below are available to everyone though like the ability to save points, convert to HH, borrow points, etc.

I got the booklet. It’s the one for ”the club”, but it still applies. I guess. And the free room upgrades are not free. They’re $40+ a day or something.

I think The Club side does have paid upgrade options by the HGVC doesn't

I think regular days. Without knowing the particulars, I am reluctant on almost all retail upgrades. There can be exceptions but retail pricing is just too much. I can buy many resale weeks for $20k.

As an example, the last three Craig Lodges weeks that we bought were about $2k each so $6k for about 23k points.

Yes show him all the "Free Timeshares" available on TUG classifieds and in the Free Timeshare threads. This is a no brainer. There are plenty of ways of getting a better 'deal' based on what you both really want without buying retail.

You probably should stay away from owner updates (aka sales presentations). With each owner update, the sales folks will simply try to get you to spend more money (HGVMAX, Elite status, lower your maintenance fees, new home resort, etc). The sales folks are known to stretch the truth in order to make a sale.

Which Myrtle Beach property? Look at the resale classifieds and the price history as a start. And remember just because someone is asking a certain price doesn't mean they will get it. And remember there are other ways to get HGVC points with low maintenance fees and less out of pocket for purchase ... if that is what you really want. The following links are HGVC ... if not HGVC and its HVC Max points then whoa. Most of those deeds are worthless and people are are trying to give them away. Some have no takers at all.
