Good news. Too bad so many states, especially those in the South, have been extremely slow to enact distancing measures.

98-99% of infected people survive. We need to hear that more.

Virginia is in the South, but we have a progressive Governor, that is a physician and he has issued an Executive Order Stay at Home to all Virginians .
Social Distancing or six feet or more.
No gathering or ten or more.
Only essential business are open grocery stores, pharmacies, hospitals, doctor's offices, take-out restaurants orders only
No gathering on the beaches, parks or gyms, health spas
Schools & public state colleges are closed for this academic year.
Stay at Home unless you are going to work

All non essential business are closed examples all shopping mall, barber shops, hair salons, restaurants, all retail stores (small & large), florist shops, car wash and list goes on and on.
Costco & Sam Club Tires Centers

The Governor of North Carolina is marching in the same steps as the Governor of Virginia and has given the Executive Orders for NC to follow...

To all
Be Safe and Stay at Home.

ABC liquor stores are deemed "essential"

We live in a community where there is a skilled nursing facility and we are really locked down. A spouse can’t even visit their partner in skilled nursing. Seems at first rather ridiculous but we are glad. We are quarantined for two weeks if we even drive outside our gate.

Ignorant rant, Kurt.
Not ignorant, truthful. There are still states that haven't issued stay at home orders. There are still states that even if they have issued them, they are being ignored. We all need to be doubly cautious during this time.

Kurt observation were correct the Southern States below North Carolina are not following Virginia or North Carolina Governors. Guidelines IMHO.
Stay At Homes
Social Distancing Guidelines of Six Feet.

It could be working here in Ontario Canada as well .
BUT
here is my analogy
ever see a Nascar race on TV ( whether your a fan or just channel flipped )
180+ miles an hour / 4 inches off the wall .
sometimes a car will brush the wall & that driver goes on to win
sometimes the car will crash & there are drivers who die.

right now the world is 3 “inches off the wall - even with the flatter curve -
and the outcome is unknown .

It looks like you may need a subscription to the NY Times to open it, but they are offering it free right now for information on COVID-19.

Here is an article that lists which states have issued a stay at home order. The NY Times one was nice because it was a map showing which states had, and hadn't.

Fingers crossed.
Mathematically, every day of delay (and compliance) has a huge impact of the upward exponential curve shape. The SF Bay communities were early in the SAH/SIP orders (Mar16). We started March 14 the day we pulled my MIL out of a Senior Care Facility that looked to me as a hotbed for covid-19. And she would be stranded alone there as they cut off visitors. It was a good decision in the background of incomplete information.

I realized early that we were going to be at least 8-10 weeks regardless of the pervasive optimism that is human nature. I set this as my expectation early on based on what was going on in other areas, and listening to Scientists in the field of infectious disease and epidemiology, and not political agendas. I still think that this reasonable, but there will likely be a rebound effect as uninflected (clean) communities get recontaminated by others that were in (or are in) hotspots.

We are going to have to wait until herd immunity takes over (80-90% infected), or vaccines for the virus to subside. The quickest vaccine will not likely be available until January and likely in limited supply until a couple of months later.

Try and stay sterile as long as possible after the SAH/SIP ends as it won’t be over then - just manageable.

Good news is that Robin tested negative (took 12 days to get the result) which means me and her Mom are negative unless we got infected in the interim.

right, -- and gun stores and shooting ranges are also "essential" in Virginia

It is true gun range in Virginia are closed. I just read this in our local newspaper. I can smell Trouble.
How many gun owners can used a gun range at a times in a building?
I would think that they are 6 feet apart for gun safety reasons.
For some gun owners this is their only recreation.

Did you know that Costco, Sam Club's and BJ Warehouse Tire Centers are closed temporary in the Hampton Roads Virginia areas because of the virus? It has been reported by tire service employees at these tire centers that all auto owners do not properly clean, spray or wipe down their vehicles with Clorox or Lysol to kill the virus before tire service.

This reminded me of the last time I took my daughter's car to get an oil change. The place had you stay in your car the whole time -- just drive in, all transaction was done through the window (could be even done w/ even less contact quite easily). Very little chance of any kind of virus transmission. Maybe other quick-service places could adapt the same model.

For some gun owners this is their only recreation.

That's a sad statement if it's true, but I doubt it.

I have several outdoor recreation activities, but I'm reduced to short walks around the block, I'll survive.
