Being offered a Diamond international collection so I would have booking priority

I am an elite member with HGV and will have access HGV Max. One of the limitations with HGV max is that access to the Diamond International sites is not available prior to six months before checkin which would make it difficult to get some of the locations. However, if I were to purchase even a small amount of Diamond international points (which are HGV Max points), then I would have 13 months access to all of the rebranded Diamond resorts. It is not clear if I would be limited in use to Diamond International resorts to just this initial purchase or if I could use all of my points in a 13 month window. I do, however, have access to the trial package I bought (for $2K) that has 15K points. This would give me enough points for at least 3-5 weeks over the next couple of years depending on location, etc... until this issue is understood. If I do this, I would probably not have a need for the next two years to worry about priority booking and I am very interested in several of the new locations (Arizona, California, and Hawaii mostly).

Thoughts?

Buying on DRI side gets you a different login, a different portal, etc. Basically, you're on DRI side, with all its upsides (booking window) and downsides (extremely high maintenance fees for what you get for them, ownership interest in something that has no value on resale market, and of course, cost of acquiring this at retail prices!).

That is what I am trying to figure out.... It is being offered by the Hilton Grand Vacations side of things... Not thinking I get a separate login. But I agree about the worthless resale value. I won't do it unless I get the HGV max login and it has the new sites on it... I don't want a DRI login. I'll only do it if it is part of My Hilton information and HGV max highlights me as a DRI person as well HGV

I thought DRI Europe was not going to be part of HGV MAX.

I don't see that happening anytime soon...if at all. Is it possible? Should be considering HGV Max's "portal" will provide (HGVC owners who join Max) access to inventory in DRI's THE Club. Could they also use a similar interface to account for owners in both? Possibly, but doubtful.

The DRI European affiliate resorts won’t be part of Max, but the DEU owned will be (or at least it’s been said they will be).
That is my understanding also that all the Diamond owned resorts in Europe will be part of the Max program but none of the affiliated resorts will be part of Max.

all SO confusing. We have Centum Hawaii Diamond 65,000 pts built up over years. Our fees are incredibly high but we like resort priorities and travel often. We also have HGV of 12,000 points. Now being pursued for HGV Max and feel we are in a good place to consolidate both companies-finally! Also, We always use Hilton hotels anywhere in the world and prefer the brand and want out of Diamond and solidly into Hilton.

Help
  1. does it matter which Hilton resort we move to?
  2. what are are bargaining chips when we feel we have something to offer?
  3. We want to be in the Premier + category for benefits
  4. Instead of paying over $10,000 a year in fees to reduce costs overall and be with one company

See my post. We are in the same position and want it ALL. HGV Max, DRI, Hilton hotel brands, discounts, guests and a location that is desirable. Were just in Vegas and the Elara stands out, especially next to Polo outdated (but we liked the 1 bedroom suite on the 8th floor with a kitchen) It's amazing the difference between properties DRI-Hilton with such improved service and quality overall.

In terms of inventory, you already have access to all you will have with Max...Max won't change that unless you've used up your points in one club and desire to go to a resort in that club within 6 months. Then you could use your points from the other club to get a unit through Max. Granted, Max will get you some benefits with your Diamond points that you don't currently have. For resale owners like me, we're better off purchasing a resale unit in the other club to get the additional access.

I just don't see that happening. I hope I'm wrong, especially for owners who own in both.

There is no true Consolidation between HGVC and DRI. HGV Max will allow a HGVC Owner to Book into DRI at 6 months and under. HGV Max will allow a DRI Owner to Book into HGVC at 6 months. This ability will cost $7K or more. HGVC Points and DRI Points will not be mixed and swirled into a single Pool.

Has anyone had experience to not have both but to let go of Diamond in costs and points to Hilton and HGV Max. In our presentation that is what we were told that Hilton is letting you give your Diamond points to Hilton-Cancel contract with no penalty, reduce your maintenance costs overall. This would be our preference to go from Diamond Centum to Hilton Premier + and HGVMax at the Elara in Vegas 2 bedroom. Comments

Sounds impossible. I won't believe until I hear from someone who pulls the trigger on it and then precisely explains what the actual outcome is.
