Stumbled upon an article regarding cheapest coastal towns to retire. MS was at top of list.
Anyone know anything?
(Apart from horrible humidity in summer.)

Thanks for your reply. I was surprised that no one had answered.Hubby's cousin and wife retired to Biloxi a year or so ago. Ages 57 and 62, city pensions from a town of 20k in Illinois so they are used to humidity. Purchased a few years before retiring and rented the place out until moving, a house a few blocks up from the beach which kept it affordable-basic 1000sf rambler. They love it, the affordability and simplicity. He is now off all his blood pressure meds. I believe tax advantages are very good in MS. Have made good friends thru community involvement, a group of them just went on a cruise out of Mobile which also looked affordable!
As long as the roof is attached with hurricane clips it should be fine, I would be more concerned with flooding. My biggest worry would be the quality of construction (with the ability to withstand a hurricane). Wood frame construction just may not cut it anymore for a coastal community.....
