I thought that I had read that when you have a 1 week timeshare reservation (as an owner) at Beachplace Towers that you are entitled to 1 free parking spot for the week. On my reservation coming up, it states that parking is $15/day. Has it always been this way and if not, when did it change?

When you look on Marriott.com or II there is a blanket statement about parking. The system doesn't know if you are an owner or not. On Marriott.com it is aimed at those that reserve through Marriott.com and doesn't apply to everyone.

I don't think there have been many changes in parking policy. Many of Marriott's hotels charge for parking as well as a few of the timeshares. MBP and Timberlodge have charges. MGC doesn't charge for parking but everyone must valet park which means tipping is the norm. I don't know if the decision on parking is up to Marriott or the timeshare HOA. I think the hotel parking charges are the worst.

Parking charges at the timeshares are up to the HOA.

If you are an owner at BP and using the owner week you booked, your parking is free, if you own at BP but using an exchanged week you pay just like other exchangers. I don't want to defend the decision to charge for parking at BP but right next door parking is $40 a night so BPs charge might be a bargain to some. Ironically, you can park inside the same garage but not on the BP section for a lot less a week. It costs even more than this to park at Custom House in Boston, which is another urban timeshare. in both cases you don't really need a car at BP or CH as everything is walking distance for many people...or a short cab ride.

Parking charges at the timeshares are up to the HOA.

I do think that Marriott does put a lot of pressure on the HOAs to offer free parking for all Marriott owners. You do see a lot of resorts where parking is not free unless you own at a Marriott or where there is a parking charge for those booking on Marriott.com. There appears to only be a couple of HOA holdouts in this and BPT is one of them.
