Please don't jump to conclusions with this.

I spent some time on II's website comparing the price of a single 7 day cruise from Los Angeles to Mexico using various units as deposits. It was a 7 day cruise for 2 Adults (from Alabama) on Royal Caribbean with a Sail Date of May 31, 2009. . Boy was I surprised.

Basically I used the strongest week in 2010 noted on II's travel index as a deposit for each resort - generally week 5. Here are my findings.

The cheapest inside stateroom per person cost is:
____ when using ____ as a deposit (week).

$231 - Grande Vista 2BR . (wk 9)
$231 - Legends Edge 2BR (wk 26)
$231 - Waiohai 2BR . . . . . (wk 5)
$214 - Ocean Pointe 2BR . (wk 5)
$214 - BeachPlace 2BR . . . (wk 5)
$289 - BeachPlace 1BR
$380 - BeachPlace studio
$380 - Christie Lodge 3BR (wk 5)

That is surprising. I don't know if you have tried other combinations/cruises and gotten similar results, or if this was just one of II's finicky moments. Hard to believe that Legend's Edge or Grande Vista were considered comparable to Waiohai, unless it had to do with your selection of weeks (since you chose the strongest weeks, I am assuming you chose weeks 51, 52 or 7 in Florida, which probably have much higher trading power than other weeks in the same resort).

Very interesting though.... Which cruise/week were you looking at? I'm curious what others would find with their weeks.

BTW- were you using '09 weeks in all your searches; could the results have something to do with how far out you were depositing the fictitious weeks?
