The latest email newsletter to Royal Resorts members included this notice...

The Mexican Tourism Secretary Rodolfo Elizondo recently announced that work to restore Cancun’s beaches will take place during the first quarter of 2009. The financing for this project and the methods that will be used to pump sand on to the stretch of shoreline between Punta Cancún and Punta Nizuc and reduce coastal erosion once the beaches have been restored are still being discussed by members of the scientific community, government officials and tourism industry representatives. There are at least three different projects on the table and a 10-year protection plan has also been proposed. More details are expected in the next couple of months, keep checking E-News from Paradise for additional updates.
