I have not yet deposited our 2012 2 bedroom villa at Beach Place Towers but was hoping to reserve a week during Christmas 2012. We are platinum owners but the only room type currently available is the master bedroom. We usually deposit to II so was wondering what folks think my chances are for getting the full the villa during the Christmas holiday? Am now thinking I should probably just deposit with II. Any suggestions? Thanks much!

If you can reserve the 1BR for Christmas you should probably do that.

You can then deposit the studio and trade into the other half easily. The studio deposit may actually get you the entire 2BR, and then you'll have a great 1BR to deposit for trading later.

Right now II has both studio and 1BR units available for Dec 22 check-in.

Thanks Terry. Just so I understand, should I deposit the studio with Marriott and put the 1 bedroom in my Interval International account? Then try to trade the 1 bedroom for the same time? I've never used this method before so sorry for my ignorance! Thanks. Sheila

Before depositing anything into Interval International you need to first make a reservation with Marriott.

Are you saying they do not have the Platinum week available that you wish (i.e. Christmas week)? Maybe an alternative check in day is available?

Have you reserved another week in lieu of the week you really want?

Have you given thought to attempt a reservation either using Destination Club Points (which you may or may not be a member of) or making a reservation with Marriott Reward Points (which are now allowed at all MVCI Resorts) assuming availability?

No.

I take it that you've checked online and you can you can reserve the Christmas week with your "Master Suite" half. Is that correct?

You could then have to reserve a different week with your "Deluxe guest suite" and deposit it with II. This guest suite/studio is what you can use to exchange back into BeachPlace. You can look online (with II) now to see if what you want is available.

Correct, the plat week i want is not available for the full villa. I haven't made any reservations yet. The master half is available through Mariott on 12/22 (which may be okay but was hoping for 12/28) but not the studio and we really need the full villa. I will probably do as suggested and reserve the master then deposit the deluxe guest room with II and exchange back into BeachPlace Towers.

Got it...I think! When I looked on II a minute ago I can see that a studio is available on several different weeks during December, including my preferred date of 12/28, but I can't see a master suite available. I think this may be because I only have a studio currently available with II (deposited in 2011).

Using a week 1 2013 Beach Place 1BR and 2BR can only also see studio units for BPT on 12/28/12. You would probably have to rely on an ongoing search to catch a 1BR but need to be willing to offer one up. The week just doesn't seem to be out there right now for a 1BR master suite.

I don't think you need to have a super peak week to get the exchange. Reserving for the 22nd and putting in a request for the 28th should do the trick IMO.

II often permits a 1 level increase if they are available, but you usually have to call II to do it if it won't book online. Studio searches usually only see studios...but you just might get lucky and get a 1 Bdrm for it. When Marriott dumps units into II you might even get a 2 bdrm for a studio as I did for Spring Break this March, normally prime time but I think II had concerns about getting rid of them.

FYI - There are a couple of nice BP units now that may fit your needs.
