RCI has a unit on hold for me, unit #3679, a 4 bedroom for 10 for next Aug. Does anyone know anything about this unit. I know this resort does not move people from the assigned unit. I prefer the Barrier Island at Duck because it is on the ocean, but may consider this if it does not have a lot of steps and is in a good location. I know the pool there is awesome. I need to know about steps.
Thanks
Pat

Pat,

We never stayed at this resort but we stopped by when we stayed at BIS-duck. It is behind a Walmart. There is not much you can walk to. There are many unit with stairs. If you can the resort with the unit number, they can tell you exactly how many steps.

I have no idea about the unit.

The resort is very nice (probably nicest timeshare on OBX) and pretty close to some good restaurants and activities.

It isn't anywhere near the ocean on foot, but there are plenty of public access points within ten minutes. It's actually a very central location for going both south to Nags Head and north to Duck and Corolla.

I actually think it's a good trade for a 4BR in August. I'd take it unless you want ocean front or the ability to walk there easily.

While not on the ocean, the resort has a parking lot by the beach. Lots of stairs even for some units on the first level. Don't be put off because it is behind a Walmart- its not visible from the resort but quite convenient. The grounds are wooded with a nature path that wends its way to the back gate about a half mile from the main entrance. Pool is very nice.

This is a nice resort with a wonderful recreation area. You are near Wal-Mart, several shopping centers & some fantastic golf courses, the Wright Brothers National Memorial, the Lost Colony Outdoor Drama, deep-sea fishing at its best, and many, many nice restaurants. Beware you will have some stairs to climbs to enter your unit.

We love this resort. Yes, there are steps, quite a few going up to the second floor......but there are two floors to each unit. Request the 1st. floor, or call ahead and ask if you are on the first floor.

If I had my choice..for an August vacation in Outer Banks....I would stay clear of Duck. The road is one lane in and one lane out with a stop light at the beginning of the road. It is he** in the summer with traffic. Stay in Kitty Hawk, you will not be sorry. And yes, WalMart is in front of the resort but as earlier mentioned, it can not be seen from the resort and you will love the convenience of having it close by. The resort has a private parking area at the beach, which is only a short drive. You park there right at the beach. It's very handy. I'd go for it if I were you! Be sure to visit Maneo while there. It is a quaint little town, with a live play right on the beach, many shops and good restaurants. If you are not familiar with the area...just ask at the check in desk.......they are very helpful and full of information.
