I'll be going to Barony Beach on HHI on Friday 8/29 on an exchange from OceanWatch (which I bought from Marriott). I also own a resale unit at Grande Ocean so I'm not in the market for another timeshare. I just received a call from a Personal Concierge who said her job is to make sure we have a good time while at Barony. I was wondering what this is all about? We had a Personal Concierge when we stayed at Grande Ocean and took the tour on the discounted weekend for the sales pitch but this offer for a concierge when we're exchanging surprises me. I told her we didn't want to tour and won't buy anymore timeshares but she said, that's OK and her job was to make sure we enjoy our trip. Has this happened to anyone before? IF so, can you tell me what to expect? Thanks.

Yes, we had the same phone call on a couple occasions. Bottom line is they do want you to tour and in some cases, they may get some perks if they book dinner/tour reservations for you while you are there. We didn't follow through.

we received the same call

We exchanged to Barony last week and a few days before we left we received the same kind of call. He said he was our personal concierge and told us that he could make reservations for dining that we wouldn't be able to do for ourselves and plan day trips for us. I told him okay but we have the day trips and dining already planned. He said he would get a packette ready anyway and could he meet with us our first morning in our villa for 10 minutes. I told him that we don't know our plans, if we would be in our villa or want to sleep in and he said, "well how about the afternoon?". I explained that we are familiar with timeshares but thanked him for his time. He backed off. It was the first time I was ever called prior to a trip.

They started this service last year. We used it and liked it. He did not try to sell us a time share or take a tour. He even brought a mug as a gift. A little while ago, I received a call and will use this service again next week at Surfwatch. He will meet us at our unit on Sat. morning and go over what we want to do and where we want to eat. Again, no tour or sales. He can make reservations at places that do not take them. He spends all the time you need. My wife loves this. She plans the whole week or most of the week with him and lets him book the trips also. He brings all kins of info to the room. Also, if you need something during the week, you can call him. I think this was a great service. i can olny spear for myself. Try it, you have nothing to lose. If you do not like the way the meeting is going, you can end it. Enjoy your trip.

We received the same call when we went to OceanWatch in mid June. My sister-in-law set up an appointment with the woman to come to our villa while the kids would be sleeping. It was well worth it. She gave us all kinds of material about local shopping, entertainment, dining, etc. She also gave us a huge discount booklet. At the end, she did ask if we wanted to go on a tour and we said no. She didn't mention it again. We ended up deciding to do it anyway and called her 2 days later to set it up.

She said that she is available anytime. She gave us her cell number. We didn't bother her, but she said she has received calls many times for last minute dining reservations, etc at 8 or 9pm. She said she's made reservations while she was grocery shopping. I believe it. She was great. But we're not the type of people to do that to her.

Concierge

Hi All that responded! Thanks for the info. We're meeting our Concierge in our TS on Sunday. As long as there's no pressure to buy, I will take advanatge of the service. I'll report back how the week was when I return. Thanks again.
