Barcelona is banning Airbnbs. Other European cities have cracked down already — with some success.

Following a partial ban on short-term rentals in Barcelona in 2021, earlier this summer, the city announced it would aim to eliminate all of its approximately 10,000 registered short-term-rental listings by 2028.

May or may not be a problem..... Do they have a minimum amount of days that you are required to rent? For us, a stay in Barcelona, Lisbon, Porto, etc, and most other cities would be 30 days minimum to 60 or 90 days maximum. A lot of the bans are looking to cut out less than one month rentals and I have seen you are good if you stay a month or more.

I can understand the problem that the rapid growth of VRBOs has caused for locals who want a reasonable rental apartment. But I also love the flexibility I get as a tourist to rent a small apartment with a kitchen. It was especially important when we travelled with our young daughters and couldn't easily find hotel rooms for the 4 of us and wanted to eat some meals in. I still prefer to travel that way in Europe, so it will be interesting of this moves to other major destinations. We recently rented an apartment for 3 in Paris, which turned out to be especially helpful when 2 of us ended up with COVID.

ahhhhhhhhhhhhh, memories. We've been to Barcelona once. Stayed in an awesome airbnb, in an awesome location, for an awesome price.
It seemed to be a VERY nice apt bldg or condo (I never bothered to worry about which) in which at least the majority of units had become STRs. They even had a primitive "front desk" (check-in etc) in a lobby which obviously had not originally had a front-desk. Awesome place.

The last time I booked an Airbnb was in Barcelona back in 2019, and unfortunately, it was not as expected. It made me realize the importance of thorough research and accurate representations when booking accommodations. Since then, I have been more cautious and selective when choosing accommodations for my trips.
