Banking and Borrowing the same year question

Question for the banking and borrowing experts out there.

Say I have 3000 points in 2017 and I wanted to borrow 200 to be used in 2016. If I did this:

- Am I able to borrow again for the same year or can the borrowing only happen once a year?

- And if I borrow some of 2017 points, can I bank the rest for 2018?

I tried to find this answer but never could clarify. Thx in advance.

Borrowing is usually done at the time of making a ressie for a total quantity of points that exceeds the number of points you have available in the current Use Year. So using your example, if for instance you are making a 2200 point ressie and have only 2000 points left in 2016, but you do have 3000 available in 2017, the system will borrow points from 2017 for you (it will let you know it is doing it). And yes, you can do this multiple times....you are only limited by the number of points available to borrow.

And no, borrowing does not affect the bankability of your remaining points, so the unborrowed 2017 points can be banked into 2018 with no worries. Just keep in mind, there are deadlines for when banking must occur within your Use Year.

I believe you can do multiple transactions with different Points from a same Use Year, but you can't do multiple transactions with the same Points. So, you can borrow some from 2017 and bank others from 2017, but once banked or borrowed those Points can't be further banked or borrowed.

Hope this isn't too confusing. :)

True, but it can be also be done as a separate transaction without making a reservation at that time with the borrowed points.

True, and I have seen others mention this, which is why I said usually, but I cannot understand why you would do this as once you borrow them, they are stuck there, and if the ressie you wanted is no longer available, you may have borrowed points for no reason, or perhaps the wrong number of points if you end up settling on a different ressie.

To me, allowing the system to pull just what it needs is a better approach.

Again, perhaps its just me, but it seems so logical.
