Banked vs Elected points

Hi All,
I am trying to make reservations for 2025. I already have most of my banked points tied up in a reservation for 2025 that I will cancel, if the later date becomes available. Since timing will be important, can I quickly book the new reservation using elected points in my account, then cancel the previous reservation freeing up the majority of my banked points, and then call to swap out elected 2025 points for banked 2025 Points?
I am afraid I will end up with nothing if I cancel first.
I also thought of pressing the "Hold and keep searching" link, giving me time to cancel before booking. But... I did use that link once before and then I couldn't find where the unit was "held". Looked all over. After 15 minutes, the hold was released and I could see it again and successfully booked it. But dang I couldn't find that unit during the "hold".

So I guess I have 2 questions for the point wizards.
1. Can I replace elected points with banked points after the reservation is made with the elected points.
2. Where can I find my "held" unit if I use the "Hold and continue searching" link?

Thanks in advance.

1. Yes, they have historically allowed you to do that.

2. The held ressy should show up at the bottom of the page where you search for new ressys. To give yourself more confidence, you could place a test ressy of a few nights on hold and see if you can find it.

Just following up on my situation. Decided to cancel the booked reservation first to free up all my points, and today the units were released for the dates I wanted. Put one unit on "Hold" while I booked the other unit, then went back and booked the unit on Hold. Worked like a charm and I am very happy to get the week I wanted with two 3 bedroom units.
Thanks Fasttr.

So happy to hear you were successful in landing what you wanted. It’s almost as good of a feeling as the vacation itself. ;)
