Felt safe there with most people wearing masks and social distancing in the Ellsworth area. Most restaurants offering take out and some with limited indoor and outdoor dining. Acadia National Park was open. No cruise ships stopping in Bar Harbor this year. AVR was mostly open with limited access to the clubhouse and pool admittance by reservation only. There are still some restrictions as to who and how some state visitors may visit. NY and CT and some others are not restricted. Masks or anything hanging from the car rear view mirror while being driven are illegal and subject to a $ 50 fine as of a few days while we were there, so leave your fuzzy dice at home.

I found it so delightful to be in a state with fewer overall cases than just in my county alone in NC. (And, yes, we tested before heading up.) It was like a huge weight off my shoulders for those two weeks.

*sigh* Maybe we'll be able to have nice things again as a country....

Same in NH with the rear view mirror thing. They don’t enforce it. We have a dash cam and rosary beads on ours. Ridiculous.

Do the timeshares there have an alternative to the parking pass that hangs from the mirror?

We always put those up only when the car is parked. I would never drive with a hanging.

Huh? Don't you only hang the parking pass from the mirror during the time the vehicle is actually parked?

No $50 moving violation if it is hung from the rear view mirror while the vehicle is not being operated.

Glad you made it here and then safely home again. I am glad we went to MO this summer to see my folks. But I was glad to get back home to Maine. I agree about feeling safer here. We've had the outbreak because of the Millinocket wedding, but by and large, things have gone pretty well. One of these days, we'll get to AVR. It looks like a great jumping-off point for the area!

There are no parking passes at Acadia Village. Acadia National Park requires a pass that can or should be hung on the rear view mirror, but those areas in the park may be exempt from that Maine law as the park has it's own police force.
