Baby turtles on Medano Beach

I was fishing and the turtles wanted to go for a swim. This was under a full moon rising.

The other week I swam with a huge sea turtle in Napili Bay. Yesterday I saw the bale heading into the ocean. Turtles have always been a creature I really like. I feel lucky to have seen them get into the ocean.

More turtles tonight. In case anyone was wondering, these are released here on Medano Beach. I was fishing maybe 100 ft from the release site. I wonder if turtles would have been good bait, lol. I would never do that but I thought about it.
We released the little buggers in PV one year. It really gives you a warm fuzzy feeling.

Yes it does. It seems to take decades off an older persons age. My wife and I were giddy helping the baby turtles get into the ocean. As soon as they get out a wave brings them back until eventually they are gone. It took about a hour and even then some turtles were getting washed up further down the beach.

Several years ago in Nuevo Vallarta, we went down to the beach and found hundreds and hundreds of baby sea turtles across a long stretch of sand, and what seemed like a million sea birds picking them off one by one. The beach was littered with dead and dying hatchlings trying to reach the relative safety of the bay. It was a brutal sight. As much as we tried, we couldn't do anything to help. I'd much prefer watching baby turtles safely wiggle over my toes on the way to the sea!
