I don't see a reply .... here are a couple of options ... First -- Have not been to Carlsbad since Covid hit (( March 2020 ) and have been told that golf there is like I find at my course -- boy - everyone is now golfing ... (except here in Ontario they just shut us down for 4 weeks starting today )
The Aviara course has a deal where you pay full up for the 1st round ( $230 ? )then a daily rate of $80 ? for the next 6 days. I have never done that. My wife & dog don't tolerate that much golf.
If you would like some other courses to play - Arrowwood in Oceanside has deals and nice senior rates - but is a nice course to play. Another great ( but unique ) course in Goat Hill - an executive course that is on steroids ... omg ... you need to play a few times to get the hang of it ( and to figure out where the next hole's tee's are ). I love that course --but it doesn't love me ... what a test.
The Crossings at Carlsbad is a great city owned course - and run by same group that also has Encinitas Ranch ( a short distance to the south of FSA ). Both good courses .... Crossings is a tougher course ... Play both ... then decide.
A bit further inland ( 2 ways to get to it ... the south road is easier ) is Mt. Woodson .... again -- a tough test but very pretty.
