Nope .. you have to upgrade to the paid version to get rid of the daily scan.

Once the scan starts, you can just hit the "pause" button. Mine starts at midnight, which is when I am always on the computer--argh! I wouldn't mind but it really slows down my computer when the scan is running. So I just pause it. Most nights I forget to turn it back on. When I get back on the computer it appears that the paused scan has timed itself out.

I set mine to scan at 3 am. Never a problem then.

How did you change it? I haven't been able to figure out how to do that.

Don ~~

Follow these directions ~~

I have AVG free & can change the scheduled for scannin ~~ Under "Scheduler" Box ~~ right click the "Box" click on "Scheduler Tasks" ~~ then click "Test Plan in Basic Mode" ~~ Click on "Edit Schedule" ~~ Under "Schedule Time" Unclick the "Box" Periodically start schedule antivirus test ~~ That should do it ~~ It won't scan your puter ~~ as David said you can't change it to once a week but you can close it down & scan your puter when you want to do it ~~ Ifin you just want to change the time you can do that there as well ~~ :wall:

There is another way to do it also:

Click "Test Center" ~~

Click on "Scheduler" ~~

Click "Test Plan in Basic Mode ~~

Click "Edit Schedule" ~~

Under "Schedule Line" ~~ Unclick the "Box" ~~

or click-on the "Schedule Task" Ican Box within the "Box" at the lower right ~~

Follow the same directions as above startin with "Test Plan in Basic Mode" ~~

Thanks Conch Man, but I've tried all those and it won't let me change the auto schedule--says I need to upgrade to do that. It will let me schedule a more minor scan that runs at 7 a.m. but that one's not a problem for me. Oh well, it's free!

I just got my computer back from the shop. While there he took off Nortons and installed AVG & Xoftspy. Now for some reason neither of them can update. AVG gives me an error stating The update server connection failed; no additional information is available. I really don't want to have to take my computer back to the shop again. Is there something I can do about this?
