I'm not sure what you mean by "Avenue Plaza owners (not Wyndham)", but the resort closed on Sunday 2/26/23 for an anticipated 90 day period.
“Thank you for reaching out. The reason for the closure is due to the plumbing project, as well as bathroom and room renovations. You are correct we were suppose to do this last year but due to a multitude of reasons it was pushed to 2023. The decision to close the resort was not an easy one but due to the extensive work to be completed along with the ability to speed up the project we felt it was the best decision. We will be replacing all of the domestic cold, domestic hot, and sanitary piping in all of the suites along with upgrading our water management system that includes replacing boilers and eliminating inefficiencies. By closing the resort for 90 days we will be able to complete the project in half the time than if we did the work while remaining open. Finally, the owner experience staying at Avenue Plaza during the pipe replacement is not an experience we want to offer anyone. In addition to the piping and water system we are also doing a complete renovation of the bathrooms and suites to include all new furniture, carpet, tile, paint, and more.
Also, to clarify we are not making the rooms larger, I wish we could but you are correct is impossible.
I hope this answers your questions but if it does not please feel free to reach out to me when you are here for Mardi Gras.
See you soon!
