Because of our advancing age, I am thinking it might be easier for my DH and I to fly from San Diego to Atlanta, stay overnight and then fly to Fort Lauderdale. Most flights get us into Atlanta rather late.

Is there an onsite hotel at the airport? If not, are there hotels that provide shuttle pickup and return to airport? Thank you in advance!

ATL airport is the busiest in the world, and there are dozens and dozens of hotels.....more than you wish to count. ALL ATL "airport hotels" provide shuttle service to and from, and buses run about every 10 minutes. We love the Marriott Airport Hotel in particular, but we are loyal Marriott owners and Rewards Program members.

There are many many hotels just as nice and perhaps a few dollars cheaper. You will have no problem getting to YOUR airport gate within 5-10 min after you board the bus at the hotel. Hotels are VERY close, and the bus system is efficient.

Fast and easy

If you want fast and easy, the Marriott and Springhill Suites Airport Gateway hotels are the best. They are at a stop between the Airport and rental car center and are connected to the airport by overhead tram. The tram comes every 2 minutes and it is a 2 minute ride from the Airport. You just walk out the door at baggage claim, cross the street and take the elevator up to the tram. They also give seniors a discount.

Great! We are Marriott 'members' so this is what I was hoping for!

Now I can breathe easier knowing we have options!
