We will be in New York City in April, and we have a Marriott "Dinner For 2" Certificate that we have to use up. Anybody have any recommendations for the restaurant where we should use it?

HOC,
While I've stayed in a lot of NYC Marriott's I've never eaten dinner in any of them. The restaurant in the Marquis looks very nice and has a good looking menu. I'll be there in April for a couple of days also. The Broadway theatre district isn't doing well in this recession and a lot of the shows are shutting down this month so be careful what you pick if you buy theatre tickets in advance.

Used to be you couldn't use these certs in the NYC hotels, but I guess the economy has made them rethink the restrictions.

I would choose the View at the Marriott Marquis as long as they accept it. It is atop the hotel and revolves--you have a wonderful experience viewing the city while you eat. We ate there a couple of years and the tab was well over $200, so the certificate would be well worth using there!!:cheer:

I'll second that -- One of my fav restaurants in NYC is atop the Marquis - the View, apparently the only revolving restaurant in the big city. Haven't been there in about 4 years but thinking about it makes me want to dine there again. Great bar too.

Out of curiosity I checked on the Marriott site, and the terms and conditions state that the View is not included. Darn!!

My second choice would be Roys in the NY Marriott Downtown. It's like a piece of Hawaii in lower Manhattan! You can take the subway down and the hotel is about a block from the subway.

I haven't been to the Brooklyn Bridge Marriott--that one might have good views.

I recommend wherever you eat, you ask about using the certificate when you make your reservation. That way there are no misunderstandings!

The View is the only NYC Restaurant listed as not taking the certificate.

The Marquis restaurant I was referring to is the main dining room. It's on the same floor as the front desk if I remember correctly.

Thanks, I'll take a look.

BTW, I usually do buy a few of my theater tickets in advance, so I'll be cautious about that this time.

Check out Broadwaybox.com for great ticket prices. I've found them quite comparable with TKTS, except you don't have to stand in line and you can buy ahead.
