We love it here but

I am in a newly refurbished unit (full 2 bdr lockoff). I hope they did not pay the decorator too much $$$

Bedrooms (nice furniture), kitchen (great appliances), patio (wonderful furniture) and dining area (huge round table) are quite nice.

BUT the living room? Absurd colors (looks like a kid's room), strange art work and the most uncomfortable upholstered chairs imaginable. So much for curling up with a good book or settling in with some popcorn to watch a movie. My husband compared them to coach airplane seats that do not recline. You are sitting up erect. They really are awful.

The interior designer knew nothing about chargers for small electronics. There are outlets built into the bedside lamps (good) but the unusual shape of the lamps makes it impossible to plug in anything other than a small plug (bad)-- in other words, if you have the kind of plug where you have a USB that sets in an adapter you cannot use it bedside.

Fortunately, the resort, the weather and Palm Desert are great, as always

I agree it's strange decor.

The glass bulby chandelier thing over the table looks like a body part or a piece of lab equipment. And between the arm chairs there's a large round drum table with a too tiny lamp. It looks out of proportion.

Desert Springs orange and aqua is not so great either. It's fine for a week or two. We're going back to Shadow Ridge tomorrow.

Orange is the Pantone color of the year--"Tangerine Tango".

LOL - we do not have a lamp on the table between the arm chairs -- there is just a hole in the middle of the table -- and we were a little afraid of what could be down that hole!

I am sitting under the piece of lab equipment now. What were they thinking?

When did they change? I stayed there in November and don't remember the decor you are describing!

I stayed in the Villages.

You were in a villa that had not yet been refurbished. The process is gradual.

Any idea what buildings have been refurbished? I got a friend a getaway and she is going there in June. Would like her to have a refurbished unit (1 bedroom) near the main pool and MAZE since she has a 8 yr boy.

When she calls in advance of her visit she can ask, I know that the first group of buildings has been refurbished -- 1100 1200 1300 1400 but that's where we always request anyway.

Is there a contact person she could send an email to request a building or is it better to call? A few weeks before check in?

You have to call about 2 weeks before checkin and make your requests.
