Hello TUGgers,

I’m here using my fixed week in unit 301. We attended the Bayou Classic Battle of the Bands & Greek Show on Friday night at the Mercedes Benz Superdome.

I’m here with friends and family. My friend from work loves accordion music. Can anyone recall any restaurants, bars, pubs, etc. that has a heavy emphasis on accordion? We haven’t asked anyone here yet, or have found anyone on the streets of the French Quarter. We also haven’t been to the Visitor’s Center. I thought I would ask TUGgers first.

Merci beaucoup!

Laissez les bon temps rouler! :cheer:

Try Mulate's. It's on Julia very close to the Riverwalk shopping center. A "nice" walk from QH. Mulate's has Cajun music, which may or may not include an accordion.

Menu is very good.

Thanks Jim for the music venue suggestion. I’ve contacted a gentleman in NOLA that repairs accordions and gives lessons. I’d like to give my friend a surprise and get her a beginner lesson. I hope this works out!

Today we walked around and made a stop on Bourbon Street for a late lunch at Le Bayou Restaurant and Oyster Bar. Finally got my oysters!

I think I’m too old for Bourbon St, but my 20 year old niece loves it. She says she wants to move here!

Tomorrow we go to visit two plantations, one of which is Laura Plantation, a Creole Plantation.

I’m so pleased with the Quarter House. It’s close to the modern stores and shops on Canal St., but on the edge of the French Quarter.

FYI: The Quarter House is offering owners up to $250 for friend and family referrals.

If you REALLY want to get oysters, hop on the Magazine St. bus and ride out to Casamento's. It's pretty well out toward the zoo. Check the website for hours -- they close for a time in the afternoon between lunch and dinner. No ambiance whatsoever -- white tile -- looks like the rest room in a bus station.

HOWEVER!! Casamento's is into oysters like no other place I know. They close for the months of May, June, July, and August -- the "bad" months for oysters.
