This is our first trip since the 4th bldg opened. They have done a fabulous job with the Woodsy pool in front of this building. Practically all of the original trees have been preserved. The water slide & treehouse are a big hit with the kids and the water slide is manned by life guards. Also, in a few weeks, a new food trailer will be opening to provide grilled items for the Woodsy pool.
This week has been really crowded (we were here the same week last year). The GM said this week has been just as crowded as July 4th week - larger families in the villas. Finding a pool chair has been a problem. No chairs can be reserved prior to 8:30am; however by 9:00 am it's impossible to find more than 2-3 single chairs at the two front pools. Of course most aren't occupied until late morning. When watching as the day progress, I've seen alot of chairs that are never occupied. People reserve more than needed for their party. I have yet to see any staff remove towels, but the GM said he was complating hiring staff to specifically monitor the situation during peak season. I was glad he had recognized the need.
Since last year, the grill areas for the front buildings have been redone. All the grills are now at the Scallop building. More picnic tables have been added as well.
Another new development is that the OW golf program has been expanded to 74 courses and reservations can be made with the conceirge versus the 3rd party company (owners should have received an email explaining the program this week).
Two things that have disappeared from previous years - the starter package in the villa and the tickets to use at Burroughs & Chapin facitilies (e.g., NASCAR park, putt-putt, etc). We were disappointed about the tickets (extremely nice perk), but BC apparrently wanted to increase the cost to Marriott dramatically to almost face value. Can't blame OW for saying no.
Any questions, let me know. We're here until Saturday.
