You can buy an enrolled Aruba week from Marriott with DC points. That was communicated to me by central sales in August. If you buy one of the resale Aruba weeks directly from Marriott, are they enrolled in the destination program?
Are you referring to a bundle package where you purchase an equal number of points retail and they enroll the week purchased? Just want to make sure I understand. You can buy an enrolled Aruba week from Marriott with DC points. That was communicated to me by central sales in August.
I went back to my notes. They were offering me an Aruba Ocean Club worth 4,075 for $45,640. Someone else posted a week or two ago that they purchased a St. Kits week for 35K. If I understand correctly, you’ll have a lower maintenance fee because it’s based off you resort. However, it becomes worthless on the resale market because you’re selling your week, not the points associated with it. I’d estimate that you would spend more for straight DC points but you may be able to get more back than the week ownership would on the resale market. Also, the annual fees seem to be higher on the points side. Are you referring to a bundle package where you purchase an equal number of points retail and they enroll the week purchased? Thanks!
That’s another great option! Especially with the priority exchange for MVC in II. But then you’re also at the mercy of what they put into II for exchange.
You're better off by buying just a resale week at a destination you like to visit, and use Interval International for trading. Resale weeks are the best bang for the buck!
.
I just bought a 1BR Oceanfront Gold that worth 2,925pts for $3,500...

Like others have said:I am not sure of the relevance of you stating this. The $3500 price is not a resale price Marriott would sell for. One cannot elect for those 2925 points with that resale bought from outside of Marriott.
I own 3 weeks at the OC, 2 were bought in 2006, but since I'm mostly always travelling to Aruba I didn't even bother to register them for points. You're better off by buying just a resale week at a destination you like to visit, and use Interval International for trading. When I don't go, I simply rent them on Redweek for more than the maintenance fees. That's in my opinion the best way to travel for cheap in Aruba.
So the relevance is: There is more than Marriott's way to enjoy travelling regularly to Aruba. And one of them could save you a ton of money.
From what I have seen MVC only sells the weeks there as retail. You can find the points for each unit type, resort and season at https://docs.google.com/spreadsheet...Oz68ewcUfH5pbQjVgNySGJPwY/edit#gid=1467168759 . The AOC Platinum OS unit I was offered was 4425 pts and not 4075 as listed and others had the same experience with the pts totals for that specific option. I ended up buying a 3 BR Platinum there as the qualifying purchase to enroll 7.5 weeks bought after the 2010 cutoff. If you buy one of the resale Aruba weeks directly from Marriott, are they enrolled in the destination program?
The chart has this unit listed as 2575 pts. For the points total to be applicable one would have to either buy retail or enroll it by doing a qualifying purchase.I just bought a 1BR Oceanfront Gold that worth 2,925pts for $3,500...

The OS/OV was a 2 BR at the Ocean Club Platinum. If you were offered a Platinum OS then it was at the Surf Club not the OC, same for all the 3 bedrooms.
But I do agree that buying a week from Marriott did make lot of sense in your case considering the added flexibility that points gave you for all those unenrolled weeks.
When I gave the 2,925 example, I was just trying to give OP an idea of a freshly bought resale week value and the number of points required to book such a week.
Cause just like TheTimeTraveler suggested, if OP intend to go yearly it's probably a better option for him to just buy a resale week.
The OS/OV was a 2 BR at the Ocean Club Platinum.
IMO same thing for the resorts that don't have both.I see, I only said so because the OS category doesn't exist at the OC, so OV it was.
