Hi all,

Does anyone have the most up to date (or even recent) unit classification map for the Surf Club? I have a Garden View unit and want to know which are the best units to request and which to avoid. Thanks!

For the best GV rooms, request a high floor in the Spyglass tower that is perpendicular to the ocean (building 9), as close to the end (ocean) as possible. The higher floors have great ocean views, esp. if you get an end unit. I had one on the 6th floor and the balcony view was really a nice ocean view.

Other GV units in the Lighthouse or Compass buildings, or in the other wing of the Spyglass building, are on the first 3 floors.

I don't believe they ever changed the unit classification map, although the lower few floors on the OF side are now considered OF rather than OS.

They did change the unit classification map.The new map was shown to me this past February. All I remember is the spyglass building is now only two views, the front of the building is all designated oceanfront and both sides are designated oceanside.I was not happy about this new designation and am still not sure how they could do it without notifying owners.

The Spyglass buildings are both only 1 side. The middle one, parallel to the Caribbean is Ocean View and the other is garden view. From your description, it appears you are referring to the Lighthouse building? The Lighthouse bldg is oceanfront and oceanside.

As IngridN posted, the only change was to the Lighthouse building, where the lower floors of the front are now OF and the two sides are OS, with the lower floors there being GV.

The part of the Spyglass building parallel to the beach is OV (except for the lower 3 floors), because the building is set back, and the perpendicular part is all GV, although as I said there are some spectacular ocean views from some of those villas despite their GV designation.

Actually, I believe the old map is already posted. I would be curious to see a scan of the new map if you have it. I was just there and didn't notice any changes to the map, but I'll admit I just cursorily glanced at it so I could have missed the small changes to the bottom few floors of the front of the Lighthouse tower now being OF rather than OS.

As far as I am aware, that was the only relatively minor change (although not so minor if you are an OF owner and annoyed at being on a lower floor, although still quite elevated since there is a garage underneath that area).

My guess is that those lower floor Ocean front are more likely to go to exchangers and Marriott.com stays vs owners. As an owner staying on your owned week, I wouldn't see there being much impact by this change.
