There will be a $20 fee(used to be free)to be collected through the online ED CARD that all visitors must complete before entry to Aruba…this new tourist tax will support wastewater treatment upgrades that are needed.

Someone mentioned this and it generated a conversation in the Aruba forum on Trip Advisor. According to the forum post the Aruban Parliament recently voted to begin this fee.

So far, I can't find any confirmation of this anywhere else. There has long been discussions about the effects and consequences of growing tourism on the island.

They really need to address the wastewater treatment; it is becoming a real problem. I hope this tax actually goes to upgrading their treatment centers and adding new ones where needed.
Money has a way of getting diverted to other problems/causes.
