Are you banking 2022 SO or waiting until it is free?

I already know that I'm going to have to bank my 2022 SO - I'm taking a ton of vacation time this year and we're still working on clearing out banked SO from 2020 and 2021.

My dilemma is that under the new combined program banking of SO is supposed to be free, and I don't want to pay $89 if I don't have to.

I can wait until October to bank since I'm 3*, but I'd rather bank sooner since I can then use the banked SO for reservations in 2023.

Is anyone else in this position? Thoughts on what you would do?

I'll bet the free banking, if it is really a thing, won't come until 2023. Or it will only apply when you elect DPs. Or something.

We already paid our 2022 VSN membership fee which doesn't include all of the new freebies, I'm thinking they will not roll those out until we are paying a new and higher fee. But this is just my guess, I could be (and often am) wrong.

My deadline is June 30.
My units are all resale.
The odds are very high that I will be paying $109.

I'm in the same position, trying to use up a surplus of 2020-21 banked star options this year. However, I want to make 2 late January-early February reservations for Maui, so I'll need to bank them by mid-May.

I think the new Marriott club fee might not go in effect until next year, 2023.
The election deadline for DC points (3*/Executive) is I think Sept 30, so if we can enroll in DC by then, then perhaps the new club fee & features might be applied. But I wouldn't pin my hopes on it.

I think everyone is right. Probably no banking free this year. I’ve gone ahead and banked so I can start using SO for 2023.

We only have 600 2022 StarOptions remaining, so they will simply go down the tubes. Not going to pay to bank.

That said, when MVC rolled out their program in 2010, they waiving of fees started right from the start. If someone still had a 2010 week to deposit into II, they could deposit it into the new II account setup for their DC membership and get $0 exchanges with it. I beleive cancellation fees with MVC went away right away also. It is possible that fees associated with 2022 usage could be gone upon enrollment.
