Are there incentives to transfer TS from RCI to II?

Just wondering if II offers any incentives to encourage a person such as myself to take my timeshare that is in the RCI exchange system and transfer it to the II system the next time I am ready to bank a week?

I added my RCI Cape Cod week to see what I could pull but there was no incentive from II to join them. Only incentive I would get is a AC certificate if I deposit the week.

In II you can search first without depositing,a very nice feature and there is no 1 in 4 rule and they have greatly improved the search engine. RCI needs to do something about the way that 10 week period search functions. It is a pain.

There is no added cost to affliate a 2nd II week when you renew a membership. There are features of both exchange companies that I like, too bad we can't merge those features into one company.

The main reason I have stayed with RCI is because you can see great GC resorts up to two years out. I have gotten wonderful exchanges through the years due to this. Because of Marriotts II exchange system I can only see availability within a 13 month period. In general II owners seem to deposit within 6-8 months of the travel period. This is my only issue with II.

With II it is sometimes surprising what weeks I can pull with one but not the other. I have never exchanged my Cape week in II.

My first reaction is that one does not transfer a timeshare from one exchange company to another. You affiliate with another exchange company but you can still deposit it with whichever one you want.

There are incentives by both companies to deposit highly desireable weeks, the type of weeks an owner would be better off not to deposit with anyone.

I am concerned that perhaps I am missing something. I recently purchased Stonegate and thew 2006 week had already been banked at RCI. I am a member of II and would rather not have to join RCI, but I am told that in order to get my banked week from Stonegate, I need to open an account at RCI and they will move my banked week into my account.

Also, my original question was made because I thought I saw someone talk about a bonus week that they got for depositing a week with one of the companies. I thought it sounded like an incentive.

THanks,

Lola :p

That is correct. Your 2006 week was banked with RCI, meaning that you can use it for an RCI exchange. Your 2006 week is not otherwise available to you. However, you cannot exchange through RCI unless you have an account there. Contact RCI, open an account and you can get the banked week deposited into your account so that you can request an exchange. The sooner you do it the more likely it will be that you'll get an exchange you request.

As for II, you cannot deposit a week from your resort with II unless your resort is affiliated with II. Most resorts have an affiliation with only one of the two major exchange companies. I'm not positive, but I believe Stonegate's affiliation is only with RCI.

Even if your resort is affiliated only with RCI, you can choose to reserve your future weeks (starting with 2007) and exchange either through RCI or one of the independent exchange companies that are discussed on this forum and in the TUG Advice section (link at the top of the page).
