Are the pools open at the Marriott Timeshares in Orlando?

Just curious...I did call one TS and they are open. Do you think that it is possible that the Marriott TSs will close all together? Do you think the pools will stay open? Here in NY(I am on the Island) it's crazy. Panic is starting to set in.

I am in Florida, most things are shut down now, stay home. New Yorkers are a tough breed, we made it thru 9/11, hanging there

There may be some that can be forced to shut down. It's anyone's guess. I doubt MVCI will do it on their own though.

At this point I don't think anyone can predict anything. Things are changing day to day, minute to minute. We could tell you that the timeshares and pools will stay open, and 5 minutes later that could change.

I believe someone reported on a Grande Vista Facebook group that the pools were still open, as of yesterday of course. That can change by the minute.

As it gets worse, which it will, I wouldn’t be surprised to see everyone of them closed. If one is supposedly practicing social distancing, it’s kind of hard to do in a swimming pool full of people! The real problem is that people still aren’t taking this very seriously. Time will tell eventually but I’m playing it cautiously.

My thought at this point is assume that the pools will be closed (it's not the the pool transmission risk - the chlorinated water really hammers viruses - it's the proximity issue), but the resorts will stay open. We're planning on driving to Hilton Head Easter week just to relatively self-quarantine somewhere prettier than the Baltimore burbs, as long as we don't pose any additional risks to ourselves or others by doing so. We have no expectation of anything being open but grocery stores and takeout, including all amenities at Grande Ocean being unavailable.

We were actually booked at Grande Vista but moved it - no way in hell I'm getting on a plane right now without a space suit :) and it's a 14 hour or so drive from here to Orlando. And, let's just say Florida has not exactly been the epicenter of adherence to the social distancing recommendations.

If you look at various posts for HH all resort pools and hottubs are closed and I can't imagine FL resorts won't follow same policies.

I am at Ocean Pointe and the only reason they closed the beaches is to suppress the spring break partiers. You can still use the beach where it is much easier to keep your distance than at the pool. The only enforcement for the beaches is the public access points. “Officially” closing the beaches makes the pools more crowded but the occupancy and number of people here has dropped by a large margin.

I personally wouldn’t risk Orlando where there is almost nothing to do if they close the pools and that could happen with the flick of a switch.

They are enforcing the beach closure here at Ocean Pointe and the surrounding area. Not by the resort itself but by the Sheriff. They have patrolled on a beach buggy four times in the last two hours.

We thought the CA resorts would be closed because the governor ordered all non-essential businesses closed. A resort told us they were considered essential. Maybe because they are ”condos”? But some have pools open and some don’t. Seems to be up to resort or locality? San Diego closed but not Newport or Desert Springs - yet all in CA. Seems pretty random.

The Florida Governor has ordered all beaches in Palm Beach County to close, and is the Sheriff is enforcing that order.

There also some other areas of the state where the beaches have also been ordered closed (I think around Miami and Ft. Lauderdale).

Correct, the governor ordered Broward and Palm Beach County beaches closed. Though the mayor of Miami has already ordered their area beaches closed. State beach parks are also closed. I was just curious, that while the Sheriff was driving the beach, what action were they taking against those on the beach? Specifically in front of Ocean Pointe.

We left Lakeshore Reserve on Wednesday 3/18. The pools were open but the hot tubs were closed. The pool wasn't that crowded and we felt like we could maintain a safe distance from everyone. Blossoms changed over to carry out only as we were leaving. The place is beautiful, but I can't tell you how glad we are to be home. Be safe everyone!
