We stayed at Marriott’s Waiohai Beach Club and were extremely pleased. It’s located on the coast in Poipu. We found it easy to travel around the entire island.

We drove to Waimea Canyon State Park as well as the North Coast. We went on a Sunset Cruise with Capt Andy’s and a helicopter tour with Blue Hawaiian Helicopters. I’ll have three more posts below. One with pictures from our drives, one with pictures from our cruise, and one with pictures from the helicopter.

We all agreed the helicopter ride was nice, but the sunset cruise was better. I highly recommend taking either tour during your time on the island.

Pictures of the unit and grounds at Marriott's Waiohai Beach Club

Apologies to @DaveNW and @slip for not providing a daily report :)

What an orderly, great post! I'm going to have to try posting things this way in the future. (But it does mean people have to click pictures one at a time. Worth investigating this method. Thanks!)

And don't even think of apologizing to me for doing things your own way. That's the beauty of this site - there is no one perfect way to tell others what you did. I blame @slip. He started it. LOL! :D

Thanks! Fortunately, people can easily scroll to the other pictures. On computers, click on the thumbnail itself (not the link). When the picture pops up, you can click the arrows to advance to the next picture or go back to the previous one. Also, on phones, you can swipe to get to the next picture.

We were on Kauai in April as well...At Hanalei Bay resort. Except for a fishing trip and a few trips to Hanalei, we were content to sit and watch the view from our Lanai.

Are there plans to repair the Hanalei Pier? It was always one of my favorite places to spend time on Kauai. Sunsets from there were amazing. I took this picture from the Pier a few years ago. The sunset that followed was spectacular.

We didn't ever get to the beach in Hanalei...the parking lots were just jammed with people...my guess is because the road stops to the public at the end of town. We did walk down the beach from the St Regis because I was curious too about the pier. We could see that there is a partial pier there but could not tell if anything was being done to repair it

Thanks. We'll be on Kauai in Summer next year. I hope they will have done something by then. I hope so, anyway. :)

We were able to use the full legnth of the pier in January Work was being done on the approach which appeared to have been significantly undermined.

HBR is on my list of places I'd like to stay. I drove to the resort when we took the drive north, but stopped short of going in. I took a picture of what I presume is HBR from the air.

@DaveNW we went to the bay. Weather wasn't the best. I've attached a picture with the pier in it (was looking to do a panoramic shot).

Thanks for the pix. I like the aerial picture. I need to do a flyover tour sometime - never done that. We were last on Kauai right after the flood had wiped out the pier area. The damage was still pretty raw. It is such an iconic spot to visit, I hope they can get it repaired and back to some of what it was. Hawaii was my home for several years, and visiting there continues to be an important part of my life. Kauai has some of my favorite places in all of Hawaii. :)

Are there plans to repair the Hanalei Pier?

We walked on the pier about a month ago.

The parking lot near the pier was still closed and they were tearing down a large house on the beach near the pier.

We parked in town and walked to the beach. Had lunch at Tahiti Niu.

That's good to hear. Looking forward to seeing things next year!

Our favorite place for lunch in Hanalei is Kalypso. Best fish and chips ever! :)

I believe it was 6103.....also a 2 bedroom. This was an exchage through gpx. Last time we stayed it was through II and we were a few units down by the small pool. It is my favorite on the north shore.

That is a gorgeous view. We are also using GPX for our exchange, so hopefully we'll get something comparable.

The only thing I didn't like was the resort fees. My bill was something like $211when we checked out. It included basic internet but it was terrible. The enhanced was $11.95 for one day and $29.95 for three. We did not purchase the enhanced...just used our hotspot

The food at the lounge is good and they also have a robin savage store for gifts, snacks, and a few groceries .
