#1: Correct. Marriott won't cancel the reservation. However, unless you and the seller agreed that the reserved week belongs to you, the seller - not you - will get to use it. If it belongs to you, you should ensure that the seller adds your name to the reservation.

#2: That week 16 shows up as a bit below average in II's Travel Demand Index among all Platinum weeks at Shadow Ridge. Weeks 5 through 15 all rank higher. So you'll have good trading strength, but not the best.

As a side note, you should deposit with II as soon as possible. Although you won't have lost much at this point, the best trading strength comes with a deposit that's a full year in advance of the check-in date. Also, be sure to request your exchange more than a year in advance, if possible. You want to have your request in II's system when owners of weeks you want start depositing their weeks a year in advance.

You should be able to re-book any week that is available in your season.

i apologize for not being more clear

if you had april 17-24,2009 already reserved with your new
Marriott Timesahre
would you use this week
to trade with Interval
or
try for Christmas week,2009
in november,2008
13 months out

is Christmas week,2009 at Marriott shadow ridge
any more valuable
for trading purposes
with Interval Marriott
than

You have previously been referred to the II Travel Demand Index that I mentioned in my above post. Now is a good time to learn how to use it so that you can see for yourself the relative trading strength of every week during your Platinum season.

Go to the II website at www.IntervalWorld.com. Then click on "Resort Directory" and find your resort in the California Desert section. Then click on "Travel Demand Index" on the right side of the page for the resort and you can see which desert area weeks generally have the strongest demand.

It's a useful tool that should help you to decide in the future which week to reserve for exchange purposes - without asking here and perhaps getting an incorrect response!

You just miss the Easter week by days!! Easter weeks are great traders and renters, hard to see in II book as Easter changes each year.

A specific answer to Question 2.

If the previous owner had already reserved a 2 BR week, it cannot be locked off without a little bit of effort.

First, if you want to lock-off and reserve a studio and 1BR units for the same week, they must be available in inventory. Because of things such as a finite supply of parking spaces, the number of units which can be locked out in any week might be limited at a given resort. So have alternative weeks in mind before you start the rescheduling process.

Second, $75 lock-off fee will have to be paid, and possibly a $29 reservation change fee might also come into play.

what is the $29 reservation fee change
does this mean, that Marriott vacation club
charges a few
to change your reservation week
for your use year

I changed my dates
all the time
with Disney vacation club
with no additional cost

Pls explain to me $29 reservation fee change

thanks 4 excellent point

about 2 bedroom dedicated
reservation
to change to
one bedroom and studio lock off reservation change
at later date

that makes sense
the availability must exist for one bedroom and studio
for
the reservatio change to occur.

I would have never thought of that
