Anyone having any luck canceling Vistana bookings without cancellation fees?

Anyone having any luck canceling Vistana bookings within 60 days without cancellation fees or other onerous terms? Our state of MN is requesting no travel and a 14 day quarantine on return. So we can’t go to our January reservations at Kierland. This is a public health emergency and even airlines have waived cancellation penalties. Why not Vistana?

Vistana ended their more lenient cancellation policy on October 31st. It doesn't look like they have any plans to reinstate it unless they actually cancel your reservation due to local ordinances of resort closing.

Another example of Vistana disregard for owners. Maybe we should form a union or at least an a owner advisory group. I realize the company is hurting, but even airlines have more heart.

It only takes one airline to make their policies more customer-friendly and the rest will follow because of competition. We are captive, other than dumping our timeshares, so Vistana/Marriott don't have any risk in keeping their more restrictive policy.

We are property owners. Vistana can’t extend additional usage rights to you without taking them from someone else. There is a certain amount of slack in the system but I don’t blame them for tightening back up. My only criticism was doing it under cover of darkness with zero notice.

The airlines have received government bailouts. No such thing for the timeshare business unless they qualify under PPP.

You must have known you was rolling the dice to leave it this late considering what's been happening these past 9 months. This time you lost but at least you have some return in being able to cancel for a (smallish) fee and use your options later in the year all being well.

The resort is still open and accepting guests. The choice to not travel is really up to you. Is MN a required quarantine or a recommended one? IMO your beef should be with your governor rather than Vistana.

Really? The Governor? Are you trying to make threads political? Was this comment truly necessary?

It wasn’t a political comment. Jabberwocky is correct to redirect the poster to their elected representatives rather than Vistana if they have an issue with the travel restrictions.

After so many threads that include references to government, we should all know better. Had his post said "elected representatives" and not "Governor" then I would not have replied.

That’s fair.

Seems like semantics to me. The Governor is an elected official.

I guess we just can’t let it go.

There is a reason why he wrote Governor and not elected officials. I find fault with anyone who blames only local government for this mess.

Just in case Ken555 is reading between the lines, I'm not inferring the original poster has a gambling addiction :giggle:

No need to read between the lines. The post I referred to was rather clear.

Nothing intended to be political. Simply stating a fact that the decision to not travel is based on the guidelines provided by OP's state, not because of a resort closure/quarantine requirements in AZ. My understanding is the governor is the chief elected official calling the shots in MN (at least according to my sister who lives there) and is probably the most appropriate person to voice concerns to if the quarantine requirements are their reason for not traveling.
