Hi

I was wondering does anyone have problem with seller sl travel timeshare auction on ebay. I am considering one of their ebay offer. I am bother by some inconsistance of description of the property and their disclaimer that they are timeshare wholeseller and not timeshare salepeople. Prospective buyers are asked to call the resort directly to verify info. The ebay ad does provide the floating wk and unit number. How do I verify the legit of this timeshare with the resort? will the resort confirm ownership or info with a particular unit or should I call sheraton owner services? Can sheraton owner services verify maintenance fee or special assessment?

The ad also says that transfer can take up to 120 business days. It sounds too long for me for the transfer.

I am new to buying timeshare on ebay. please advise. thanks

Most of your protection comes from using a reputable closing/escrow company for the closing. It's their job make sure you get what you paid for. Since it's a Starwood property (Sheraton) I'm going to move it to the Starwood board.

Most Starwood deeds are not for a particular unit, the unit number on the deed is only for recording purposes, but it does tell you the size and location of the unit.

If you like to list the specifics, I'm sure other owners can provide more info., including the maintenance fee. There are several special assessments with Starwood right now.

And remember that auctions on ebay are not binding, no matter what the seller claims. ESPECIALLY if you've found out that he's misrepresented the property.

they are non-binding in both directions (buyer-seller) - and no longer can a eBay seller give a negative feedback rating on a buyer.

btw - slightly off topic - but related loosely to TUG/Travel/Reviews - did you see that people posting negative reviews on Yelp have gotten sued for liable? When I heard this - I immediately thought of resort reviews left here on TUG and this forum - along with travel or BBS reviews that contain info that is untrue (or could be construed as liable) - e.g. that bedbug issue at WSJ-BV comes to mind... sorry - this should be a topic on its own - i just didn't want to start it :)

I have had discussions with them re one of their ebay auctions and they let me know the auction is wrong and they can't cancel the auction since it is within 12 hours

I am seeing red flags all around. Sorry about being late to the party...

 I have also come across bad signs on redweek.com regarding a lawsuit by State of Washington last year and some comments that someone HAD heard of them and it was ALL BAD. Also a comment on another thread that they were slow and there excuse was that a former employee embezeled a lot of money from them last year so they were having a tough time. Unanswered phone calls for days, supposedly sending title to wrong address for recording etc.

The other thing that raises a red flag for me is that they operate under many names. sltravel, timeshare freedom, We Collect Timeshares, Timeshare Collectors, etc.

sltravel now has no current listings on ebay.

I am waiting my warranty deed for a desert breezes from sltravel/timeshare freedom. Auction and paperwork dates back to end of november. Got an email in december saying that they sent it to riverside county and we should be getting deed in the mail in 4-6 weeks. They have not responded since then and I don't know how to check on the progress. The only fee they have charged to date is the closing fee of 300 bucks. The 600 for maintenance and 150 for transfer never was charged yet on my credit card. Any tips on figuring out if this whole thing is bull or not. I don't have much info to do much detective work.......:(

I find that constant check ins with the closing company is the best tactic. Make sure they know that you are watching and have an expactation of closing the sale within a reasonable timeframe. If possible, I ask for tracking numbers, copiesof sent materials, etc. -- anything to verify that they are keeping the process moving. I have closed all three of my timeshares in less than 6 weeks using this approach. good luck! stay on 'em.

Well, I have gotten stuck with Timeshare Freedom as the closing company I think twice through various eBay seller IDs. Once it went perfectly and quickly and once it was a nightmare and I had to call weekly for 5 months to get it to close. Most of the time, they didnt' call me back or respond to my emails. But it did close. This last time was a hair raiser and frankly I am now glad to be done with Ebay. Wheh! Not for the light hearted.

If sltravel is an arm of Resorts Access Network, then yes they had major issues last year. It would appear that someone is now posting here on an occasional basis trying to defend the company and may very well show up in this forum. I had a major issue with Timeshare-Freedom as they transferred the wrong resort into our name. They eventually made good (almost one year after the fact) in getting us the right resort and after another lengthy period, completed the transfer of the wrong resort out of our name. Use at your own risk.

The San Diego County web site today shows that my deed was recorded!

Hopefully it is the right resort!:D

If so, we are one step closer.

The girl who sent my deed to the wrong address for recording etc. is no longer with the business as of last Friday. I will be anxious to see the correct deed in my hands and recorded with the resort!

I don't think I would trust them again, but at least it looks like this deal may get finished and in a reasonable time frame. (Purchase Dec. 18)

How did you search to find your deed. Mine would be in Riverside county. Did you just search on your name? I would like to check on mine

Just checked Riverside County website and we do show up as the Grantees for our unit. Recorded on Dec 24, 2008. I went ahead and purchased a copy just in case. When I called the timeshare outfit last week they did not have us as an owner of record in their system. I have pestered Timeshare Freedom for the last week and haven't heard a peep. Not sure of my next steps until I have the deed in my sweaty little hand...... Timeshare freedom is supposed to charge my credit card and pay the 2009 maintenance and transfer fee but have not done so yet. Is it possible that the deeds haven't hit yet from the county? Almost a month and a half since recording it...

walumb01,

Try emailing: Tammy@timeshare-freedom.com

She is the office manager. When you call ask specifically for the person handling your file or Tammy. If it was Tara, she left....:ignore: hehehehe

Tammy will take a few days to get back to you, but she has to me so far.

Good Luck!

I just saw that my credit card was charged for the $650 for maintenance on Jan 17th so maybe there is going to be an end to this. This is the only timeshare I have purchased off the web that has had any sign of glitches.
