Anyone have issues with United giving credit/refunds?

Our original June United flight SFO-PVR was changed from a non-stop to a redeye and a 3 hour layover. Since my resort is still closed, I need to rebook or refund with United. When I go through their process, I can receive credit for the initial fare, but there's no option to receive my credit for my 2 Economy Plus upgrades (it totals to about $220).

I'm just wondering if anyone has experience with United, if it's worth getting on the phone, waiting for a CS agent, and explaining my situation? On the one hand, these were non-refundable tickets, so I'm glad United is offering an exchange. OTOH, United changed my flight, and the new departure is more than 9 hours from the original flight, which under United's rules makes it eligible for exchange.

Any bets on whether or not United credits me for my Economy Plus purchases? Thanks!

I had the same issue with our Delta flights to Zurich...
They credited original fare for a no-fee change (up to two years out), but said nothing about upgrades I paid later to move our seats to 1st class (lie flat) on one segment -- $1650 was on the line. So I called.

The CSR confirmed the initial credit, and when I asked about the upgrade-$, he said: "Oh, that can't be transferred, so we'll just refund that." The refund showed up on my CC about five days later. Moral of the story: Call them, and ask about it.

BTW,they said to use my credit, I'll need to call and use the original ticket # (not booking code) to ID the credit.

Dd had a conference in Toronto cancelled. It was to be in May. Her flights were with United. I know she got the Economy Plus purchase money back. I'm not sure about the flight. I "think" she got a credit. But her company reimbursed her for the flight tickets as they had been paid out of pocket.

I had 4 Economy flights DEN-KOA nonstop for Saturday that United changed to one stop. Because of that it extended the arrival time both direction greater than 6 hours. I called United and was told I would be given a refund. It took over 2 weeks to show up but I did get a full refund.

I would recommend calling them and citing the 6 hour rule to get a full refund. At this point I would personally not take future flight credit or an electronic travel voucher even though I know I will go back. There are rumblings that if United files for bankruptcy that those will be cancelled. Get the cash and rebook later!
