My ex, and my son's dad, is in the hospital with viral enchepaitis. At least that's what they "think" it is. He is a person who doesn't seem doctors and doesn't trust them. My son had to convince him to go to the ER after various symptoms, including weakness, falling asleep with no warning and double vision appeared. They have ruled out bacterial infection, but it will take more time to rule out a fungal infection. My son called last night, to say my ex wanted to check himself out. If he can't convince him to stay...? He has been suffering from confusion and delusion to the brain inflammation.
Thanks,
Liz

He needs to stay in the hospital. My aunt had viral encephalitis and it was not good. She went into a coma, and when she regain consciousness she was not the same. But she did live through it. Here is a link to the Mayo Clinic information on Viral Encephalitis. Sometimes it can be mild other times in is not, but either way he need to stay in the hospital for proper care.

They have him on an anti-herpes IV now, more from wanting to try something than from any indication of the cause. I spoke with him this morning and he sounded more rational, but he called my son at 7 AM and was totally not making sense at all. I am planning to fly up next weekend to see him and see what I can do to help. Please keep him in your prayers. His name is Len.
Thank you,
Liz
