I am in the process of buying a timeshare but it is taking way longer than I ever anticipated. I want to start using interval features (not trading, just the getaways) immediately but was told by a CS rep it could take 3-6 months for my unit to appear in my account and my first use isn't until 2021.

Does anyone have an Interval International account they aren't currently using? I am interested in using it for Getaways and I'd probably be willing to upgrade it to platinum because I'm specifically interested in a Platinum Escape they're advertising now and it's half the price of what we'd pay on Redweek.

Am I heading in the right direction wanting an II membership immediately? Or is there something else I should be considering in the interim?

Any advice is appreciated.

Interval accounts can not be used by anyone other than who is actually named on the account so I don't see how you could use an account that is not being used by someone.

I would venture to guess there are thousands of people who use Interval accounts and they aren't named on the account. Mostly family, friends etc. I'm of the opinion that what i'm asking to do isn't any different than someone buying a Getaway themselves and getting a guest certificate for a friend (we're all friend here right?). But I want to be able to search the getaways and plan out a 3-4 week trip at multiple resorts.

Hopefully I'm not breaking any forum rules by suggesting someone might share my liberal interpretation of the II rules.

EDITED TO ADD: I checked, and I'm not :)

I’ve got an Interval account I use but would help with a booking if you need it.

Major exchange company rules prohibit the transfer of time deposited with them or of exchanged weeks, bonus weeks, etc. obtained through them, outside of their explicitly-stated conditions.

While TUG is not in the business of enforcing exchange company policies for them, we strongly discourage the violation of their policies on this board, and caution users of this practice.

Further, exchange companies have been known to take disciplinary action against violators of their rules, up to removal of exchange privileges and cancelation of account, when discovered via public online sources such as this one.

Proceed at your own risk.

A guest certificate to me is just that, another guest using the interval other than myself. While I’ve only ever used a guest certificate once and it was for my brothers room when we all went on a trip and needed multiple rooms. Who’s to say I’m not going with my sister who is married with a different last name than mine? Non matching last names can raise brows. But I doubt anyone is going to question a one off

as a matter of fact, tonight mt cousin reached out with help booking a trip. It went from advice on places to go this time of year to where should we stay? So I looked on getaways to see if there was anything good to get them. Naturally they would have a guest certificate to check in, would that be a problem? Cousin, uncle, friend, whatever is what I say.

Thanks for the advice all. This would really be just a one or two off. Intevral International has over 2 million members (soon to include me). I highly highly doubt they would take notice of a guest certificate or two issued on someone's account. All of the posts about II banning people for abuse a) seemed to be very old and b) involved SERIOUS abuse (aka people booking dozens of exchanges). I don't think what I'm asking is egregious by any means buT i will still proceed with caution... and appreciate the TUG fam who have contributed. If anyone is willing to help please PM me. Thanks!

I have helped a TUG member recently not sure why you feel it’s a “no way” other than the person asking isn’t a member and is very new to posting.

I would consider helping out other members but someone who is not registered, is unknown, no history on the site and appeals to us with “we're all friend here right?” Tends to pull red flags for me as someone who expects others to do for them without regard for right or responsibility. What they ask is not a major crime but it does go against the rules agreed to. They have asked for all of us to trust them yet offer no foundation for that trust other than they expect someone to bend rules for their sole benefit. I would suggest they become a trusted member of the community before asking or expecting such trust. I suggest that Trust is earned and the right to be called a friend comes from being part of the community, not simply exhibiting an expectation of entitlement.

Sorry if this is not so friendly a response so I’ll leave it at that.

Very risky business. That is all I have to say about it.

People on social media rarely have the reading comprehension required for replies to specific questions. Witness another recent thread here where a poor 1st timer asked about ts issues in divorce and got inundated with divorce advice lol.

Here is what the OP wants: Your whole account access as "... I want to be able to search the getaways and plan out a 3-4 week trip at multiple resorts." Give your account password to someone you know from 1 post on social media in exchange they will upgrade your II account to Platinum.

Are you completely mad?

3 to 6 months seems surprisingly long. When did you buy and where did you buy? Perhaps others may have very specific information that could help you.
