Please read The Grand Mayan in Mazatlan thread

I'm so sorry you had such a negative and insulting experience, stopfraud and welcome to TUG.
We had a similarly unfortunate experience at a presentation for Club Regina/Raintree last month. I have posted about it here and elsewhere and found that many have had the same experience there. It seems to be the way they do things down in Mexico and it is a shame. It does mar the experience at what could be lovely resorts. Our friend and traveling partner (who did not attend the presentation) put it bluntly to say the whole experience qualifies as harassment and is truly offensive.
We all appreciate the heads up for disreputable practices. There will always be those individuals/companies that think bullying, intimidation and trickery is a good sales technique. Luckily you were smart enough to get out with your money still in your pocket. But... I encourage you take the time to peruse the boards and learn the ins and outs of the process if you haven't been tainted by the system already. Heading in to any presentation being well informed is definitely a plus.
That said, there are many (many can be counted here on TUG especially) successful timeshare participants who will advise you not to throw the baby out with the bathwater. I am concerned by your screen name (and the subject of all your 3 initial posts) that your entire purpose of contributing on TUG is soley with a negative agenda. Again, please, take the time to read through many of the threads here from owners who know the system, own multiple timeshare properties and who share their knowledge. You will eventually chock this negative experience as a learning one.
I posted this thread on behalf of our a-fore mentioned traveling partners who have friends who own at the Grand Mayan Los Cabos and are extremely happy. They are considering purchasing the same week as their friends so that they can arrange a yearly group trip. They visited the property briefly while we were there and liked what they saw.
I was the one who encouraged them not go to a presentation but to buy resale. They have returned home and they are still considering it. I have shown them the options for a non-developer purchase. They agree it is the way to go but also feel they would benefit from learning about the system via a sales presentation. They were hoping to get invited back there at a discount at which they would get a full fledged tour. Then they would most likely come back home and arrange a private sale.
So, my point is that all timesharing experiences do not have to be so traumatic nor be considered a "waste of money". There are happy owners at Grand Mayan. We are thrilled with our decision to buy where we did as we continue be encouraged to vacation in beautiful locations. We are just not so thrilled that we go suckered into a presentation in Mexico that we should have known would be a painful experience.
Welcome and good luck!
