Anyone get a call from "Sheraton Timeshares"?

I got a call this morning from a woman representing "Sheraton Timeshares". She said that Sheraton was offering a special deal for SBP owners and all I had to do was travel to Orlando in the next 6 months.

I said - who are you again? Sheraton Timeshares
I said - you mean Starwood? Yes, but we usually just call ourselves Sheraton because most people don't recognize the Starwood name.
I said - and why are you calling me? Because our records show that you purchased at SBP in 2001 and so as an SBP owner you qualify for this special deal.
I said - wrong. I did not purchase in 2001. Oh well, don't understand that problem, but can you come to Orlando in the next 6 months? No. In the next 12 months? No, thank you and good-bye.

Any ideas? I did not bother to find out where in Orlando I was expected to go and why they asked for me when DH is first on the SBP deed.

Sounds legit. They are just trying to sell you something. Probably wanting to drum up business given the economy. It's not her fault that she has to be doing the cold calling. I'd hate to have her job, that's for sure! They'd have to pay me a lot to sit through an Orlando TS presentation though. I heard those guys are brutal and pushy as can be. UGH.

A few months ago I got a call from "Starwood" about doing one of those Vistana packages in Orlando. They never used the Sheraton name.

You are so right. I was polite but a bit suspicious because the ownership info was wrong. This may be something that Starwood outsourced to a call center.

I got a call today. The girl I spoke to was VERY nice, and introduced herself as a Starwood Rep. She had all my info right...but she was offering me a package at Rancho Mirage for $299. She asked me if I could travel there in the next year, and I said NO. She was nice and polite and told me she wants to be my "New Best Friend". HA! She was asking for referrals and everything.

With the economy, they're REALLY starting to hurt now!
