Anyone ever stayed at Fairfield Bay - Mountain Meadows Pedestal Unit?

Hi.

I'm thinking of taking the family there (in AR) in August of this year for a week - I have been offered a stay in the Mountain Meadows Pedestal units (on the golf course, two level plus a loft)?

I'm just looking for comments in general - I am married and have two boys, ages 8 and 4. I have read reviews here, atoized (sp?), RCI, and tripadvisor, but they are pretty old/limited or don't discuss which unit the person stayed in.

Any help is appreciated (never been to AR before, like to hike, maybe have the kids trout fish).

Finally, does anyone know anything about the 'beach' at this resort?

Thanks!

Mountain Meadow unit, Fairfield Bay, AR. Comments??

My family and I will be staying at the Fairfield Bay Resort in Arkansas. We will be in the Mountain Meadows units.

Has anyone stayed in this unit? What are your comments?

Dave, (if you're there) how was your experience?

Is it any fun for teenagers (age 12 & 15)?

Any help is appreciated.

What about the 'beach' at this resort?

Thanks.

Jackie - We stayed in a Mountain Meadows unit last summer. It was a two bedroom / two bath unit with a loft. It is right on the golf course. There is no pool at this location but there is one within walking distance located at the Mountain Ridge units. Mountain Meadows has fewer units than the rest of the resort. Because of this there was less traffic / noise and more restful.

We had a 6 & 3 year old with us and another couple. The kids stayed in the loft that has a spiral staircase. They handled it just fine. There was even a TV in the loft for their cartoons. The unit was an older unit but nice & clean. It is raised up 1 story off the ground so there are steps to enter the unit.

Hard to say about the 12 & 15 year olds enjoyment. If they like pools, golf, miniature golf, hiking & boating, they should enjoy it. If they are into hanging out with others and needing entertainment provided, they may not. Fairfield Bay has a great marina with speedboat / pontoon rentals. I would recommend getting a boat and going out on the large lake. If interested, I would suggest you reserve on a head of time. You could spend a day on the lake and not see it all. There is an island with a large hill that is accessible by boat that would be a great day trip.

Beach? Not really. There is a small one that is located at the boat ramp. I would not want to swim there and we did not let the girls. Just not safe with the boat launch. There are area beaches / parks you can access by car or boat that would be a better choice.

We have been to this resort 3 or 4 times for the lake and water activities. We also enjoyed hiking and the countryside. Hope you have a great time.
